    Game not launching

    Hi,
I got the game via cd rom, installed it using steam and everything, and for some reason everytime i try to launch the game using either of the 2 directx options, a black screen pops up and it fails to do anything else and becomes unresponsive. An error has also popped-up once in a while saying the system data execution prevention does not allow the game to start. Please help, thanks

Data Execution Prevention, is a windows error, where something is trying to run in an area of memory protected for OS operations.

There may be an unidentified issue with your windows OS.

I suggest a full Virus and Spyware scan.

Hey, I did a complete system scan and I removed a couple of adware programs, but the game still doesnt start-up. Is there anything else I can do?

At times a game I've had wouldn't run because it was being scanned by an antivirus. That could be your problem.

It's also possible your computer simply isn't up to par, though I'm unsure how that would manifest.

Lastly, using Steam to "verify file integrity" never hurts. Be forewarned, though, that an error in the game's interaction with Steam often results in one innocuous file being reported as missing or needing repairs. If you are constantly verifying file integrity only to be told this, ignore it. It should have no bearing on your game.

In addition to all the above, are you still getting the DEP error, or something different?

Glad we fixed the DEP error, but the bad news is your video chipset will stop you from running the game sorry bud.

So do you suggest getting a new pc, or chipset?

  10. #10
In an inspiron 530, you should be able to pop a video card in there, but without seeing the PC itself, i cant recommend one way or the other personally

If your PC feels like it is still in prime shape, add a video card, if it is not, it might be better to put that video card money toward a newer PC.

That being said, a video card suitable, should be pretty inexpensive, even if you need to pay for installation.

You can add a new video card instead of using internal graphics. Lots of them available for not much money assuming you have a slot to pop one into. Look at the game minimums to make sure you select one that will work with the game. What you will need to look at is the cost for you of a card suitable to play this game or the cost to get a new system as your system is getting a bit dated. Just adding a card will let you play but you might still be limited by your hardware. Also be careful you don't put a ferrari engine in a econobox chassis.
