    Fun Facts

Have any fun facts? Share them here!

For instance, do you know what a Chelsea Grin is? It's where the victim gets his/her cheeks sliced open in the form of a smile or grin. Once the body repairs itself the scarring makes it look like the victim is smiling or grinning. The scarring can be made worse by inflicting pain on the victim and forcing them to scream - open the wound more. It originated in Chelsea, London amongst street gangs. Due to the location of origin and the grinning, smiling, or smirking look the scars are formed in, it was aptly named a Chelsea Grin, Chelsea Smile, or Chelsea Smirk.

    Have fun

Einstein actually did get perfect grades in math when he was young, and it was just a rumor started in a newspaper comic that he didn't.

You don't "use only 10% of your brain."
    That's transhumanist nonsense.
You only use 10% of your brain at a time. Yes, you can use more. It's called a seizure.

Also, velcro is the only substance known to humans that has a greater friction force than normal force.

    Yes, I acknowledged it wasn't a fact.

In the US, perhaps not in Britain, BS is an abbreviation for bull, uh, stool. It is used to describe lies.

In Victorian England, a commoner was not allowed to look directly at the Queen, due to a belief at the time that the poor had the ability to steal thoughts. Science now believes that less than 4% of poor people are able to do this.

William Shakespeare did not exist. His plays were masterminded in 1589 by Francis Bacon, who used a Ouija board to enslave play-writing ghosts.

Diamonds are made when coal is put under intense pressure. Diamonds put under intense pressure become foam pellets, commonly used today as packing material.

Halley's Comet can be viewed orbiting Earth every seventy-six years. For the other seventy-five, it retreats to the heart of the sun, where it hibernates undisturbed.

Vito, made up crap and distorted crap is neither factual nor fun.

In England it is still possible for policemen to pull over taxi drivers for having insufficent amounts of hay fo the horses.

A law introduced in 1307 ensures that the head of any dead whale found on the British coast becomes the property of the king and the tail belongs to the queen - should she need the bones for her corset.

All English Men over 14 are meant to carry out 2 hours of longbow practice each weekand supervised by the local clergy

It is still illegal for cab drivers to carry rabid dogs or indeed corpses and by law they must ask each and every passenger if they have small pox or 'The Plague'.

Oh, so this is a Portal 2 thread? The OP forgot to specify...

And headkase, I don't see this as a game. Apparently, Vito Lucente does, but I am more interested in posting true but interesting bits of information.

There was discussion and "Forum Games" was the most suitable candidate for this thread to be. It's not likely to change but I will drop an additional note on that. So, unless something changes on the "moderation" end of things: this sub-forum is likely to be where this thread stays.

Wow, you really don't like to have fun, do you?

Anyways, since some people don't like to laugh or have any sense of humor whatsoever,

The blue whale can produce sounds up to 188 decibels. This is the loudest sound produced by a living animal and has been detected as far away as 530 miles.

EDIT: And I have, contrary to your belief, posted "True but interesting bits of information". Just look at my first post.

It has been known that recently many people submit their job resumes in internet slang. When 26 year old Ferris Unore was approached, he responded,

"lol idk wth is rong wit dese dudez wit they're bissnes soots rofl dey r not l337."

During a music award, Kanye West interrupted Taylor Swift. He apperantly has not learned, because he did the same at a presidential speech.

Ice Cream has been identified as the most deppresing food in the entire world.

The cake is most certainly NOT a lie

At a launch party for Call of Duty: Black Ops in Dallas, Texas, exactly one person claimed he was getting the game for the Single Player experience, at which point he was laughed at and given an atomic wedgie.

    Bioshock is very underrated.

    So is Bioshock 2

    And LA Noire

Today's music about rhyming about women and illegal activities/objects are more popular than music from 1900-1959 that actually has taste.

Hollywood keeps remaking old movies or making sequel. The last movie to be purely original that eaarned the most is Jams Cameron's 'Avatar', which remains the highest grossing film of all time.

Lucy Ball was the only celebrity to have their career survive after being red listed.

Barrack Obama may be the first Black President, but he is not the first Black Presidential Canidate.

Christopher Columbus did not discover America. A man named Lief Erikkson did.

World War II was the bloodiest war in history.

The first home video game console was called the Odyssey.

It is actually possible to build an underwater city (with tons of presurized glass)

Splicer models were based off of real people part of 'Project Facade', who were injured in battle during WW1, so their faces had to be surgically altered.

There is a scream known as the 'Wilhem Scream' that can be heard in all of the Indiana Jones and Star Wars movies, along with many Westerns. It is still used in movies and even games today.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xn6hh...eature=related <- the scream

The first Soap Opera was called Payton Place.

The movie Bonnie & Clyde was the movie that forced the R rating to be created.

Family Guy's Mila Kunis at one point played World of Warcraft.

World of Warcraft is the most popular Pay to Play MMORPG.

More to come soon, if I can think of some

"Der Riese" (translated: The Giant) from Call of Duty is based on a real Nazi research program.

Even though the communist Soviet Union is long gone, U.S. relations with Russia are still quite bad.

During the "Berlin Airlift", several pilots started a small project dubbed "Operation Little Vittles" to provide candy for the Berlin children in the American parts of the city.

Communism was created nearly two hundred years ago by Karl Marx in the early 1800's, but it wasn't until 1919 that communism was truly put to practice.

The first "zombies" were actually just voodoo tricks which made it seem as if you were raising a man from the dead, when in reality the "zombie" was just drugged to seem dead.

Der Rise is a military compound that was used to mine escape tunnels and was also used as a factory and a scientist lab for nazi ideas, *not such as that but more as physical atrobutions." But it wasent compleated in time, and was only 20% done by the end of the war. It was used in COD but altered for the story...
