I see that you can purchase Oxen, Silk, Marble, and Incense in the market, but I can't tell if they have any in game effect.

Orctavious, its kind of like real life markets. You buy when they are low, then you sell when they are high. It is how most people tend to make money in the game.

They aren't required for any other aspect of the game, other than for you to play the market and make (or lose) some cash.

It would be cool if they gave your population happiness or sometimes productivity. Like real world commodities.

The numbers below refer to the rest of the world - how much they own, and at what cost.
