MVP against Barbs in another nation...

Is it worth anything? I thought I clearly had the most and strongest troops in helping another nation defend against barbs, but another player got the MVP I'm assuming by the message saying that they tamed the barbs.

I was hoping to get some food bonus. The wiki only says you don't get a medal. That's fine, but was expecting something for helping. Otherwise, why bother? Is there any benefit at all? Maybe it speeds up the timing when barbs attack you? I guess that could be an incentive.

    Thoughts?

You only get the bonus if it's barbs against your own civ-faction. I tried a couple time sna dnever got anyhting for helping other civ-factions.

So I guess I can assume the only benefit is to speed up the timing of them reaching your nation.

Do you have confirmation that killing off barbarians increases the speed at which they will attack another civ?

I'm pretty sure it doesn't speed up the rate them attack you. That's completely random.

Engaging barbarians will cause the attack to start right then. I suppose you could technicly speed up the attack by engaging the barbarians and then retreating, leaving them unapposed.

Huh that actually sounds like an interesting method for griefing:

Help "defend" an enemy civ late at night when no one is on, and then retreat your troops so that civ gets ravaged and loses 1 population.

Would that work? Sounds pretty nasty if so.

Did some checking, seems ther eis a bit of a safety on it. If the defending side drops below the level of the barbarians, the time will start up again.

Ah thanks for checking that's good to know.... that could be really annoying otherwise. Still, I didn't think about this before but it's probably a good idea actually to defend your enemy civ's barbarians if they aren't around to deprive them of the +1 population / 2000 food.

Pretty much the only reaosn, though that would be if they are actually defending, then outweigh them in dfense. Otherwise when the barbarians get through, the people lose the 1 pop. After the countdown time finishes, defenders or no the barbarians attack.
