Thread: Stockpiling Harvests Bad?

    Stockpiling Harvests Bad?

I used to stockpile my harvests so that if someone tries to spam theirs to overtake me in a contest, I can fire right back.

But I read in another thread that keeping your harvests at 0 makes the trickle go from every 5 min to 2 min. I just burned all my harvests to see if that was true and I'm not seeing it. I still think it's happening every 5 min.

    What's the real deal?

afaik it doesn't affect the trickle rate. But in this forums Sid himself mentioned that it should affect it (cant find the source right now).

It used to affect trickle rates. Not anymore from what I've heard/seen.

I don't think it affects the trickle rate - some say it affects the amount of bubbles you see, but I haven't tested that and not sure.

Of course having more then 24 harvests mean you will gain less harvests... and at 50, you will gain no more harvests.

According to the official WIKI, the limit is 50.

    http://wiki.2kgames.com/civworld/ind...ting_Resources

"Players gain more harvest turns steadily over time, but the rate at which they gain them decreases if the player "hoards" their Harvests. Players storing 24 or more Harvests will gain new Harvests much more slowly than those who steadily use their Harvests as they appear.

Once the player reaches 50 stored Harvests they will not be able to obtain anymore Harvests. "

I've never gotten much past 25 - but getting the last 2 as part of the "free harvest" would seem like a good possibility.

Yeah I noticed the timer doubled at 2 hours or something like that when I hit 24. I would just like some sort of notice as to the plan they have going forward on any added benefit for keeping it at 0. Kinda a pain to have conflicting documentation.

Trickle is at a constant 5 minutes for any number of harvests. What you have read were outdated postings, trickle used to be affected by the number of harvests.

Few days ago, they changed the game. Now, trickle rate is constant. However, don't go piling up your harvests more than 23, as once you have 23, each successive harvest will need 2 hours (instead of 1).

That explains a LOT! A few days ago I noticed that my harvests were taking a lot longer before the next one, and couldn't figure out why. Asked a few times on world chat, but never got any replies. Much thanks for clearing that up for me, and likely others as well.

The harvest rate is now 1.5 hours, does that now go to 3 hours at 24 harvests?

Your guess is as good as mine. My guess is that it goes to 3 hours at 18 harvests (because you only get 18 harvests a day now).

In another thread someone said they had 27 harvests and the next was at least 3 hours.

Stacking more than 24 is bad mmkay. 24 is just fine.

EDIT: On the other hand since the stealth nerf. Don't know.

I was going to post something useful but now I'm not sure if it's true.

  19. I don't know if I am reading that right - is that another way of saying that you if log in often and use all your harvests, you get more stuff?

It's quite a long post and there are numbers seemingly pulled out at random (16+2 = 18 of each resource every 5 minutes) as if they were obvious gameplay elements. I'm not sure if it recommends using up all your harvests as soon as you get them or keeping them for some period of time, or what.

It's pretty simple. Don't ever exceed 23 stored harvests (the number 23 might have changed yesterday). That's it. All the other numbers merely explain that trickle income gives income than using harvests.

There are plenty of reasons to store harvests - saving for a surprise attack, saving for an era bonus for an upcoming era, saving for the bonus from a tech that is about to be completed (resulting in a new building type/upgrade), saving for possible "Collect the most BLAH" contests. etc.
