I pm'd Elizabeth a few weeks ago with my picture confirming my broken big daddy but I did not receive a reply back either to confirm that I am now on the list. I hope I am!

    Thumbs down OK

I received the e-mail on November 20th, too saying that "In the next two weeks, we will begin shipping out a single package containing both the replacement figurine and the art book to customers who enrolled in the program by November 12th."

Well, here it is, December 22nd, more than 4 weeks later, and I still have yet to see a replacement or hear any updates from Elizabeth.

I'm trying to be as patient as I can, but that is starting to wear thin, as I'm sure it is (or already has) with some of the other posters here. I am also trying not to get angry over this either- it's not like 2K Games forced me to buy the collector's set, nor is it 2K's fault that the Big Daddies were damaged during shipping.

I think (and hope) that 2K Games will learn from this experience and perhaps make a stronger figurine for any future promotion. Or contract someone more responsible for shipping all items so that they arrive in one piece. I also think that they'll take away something from this to improve their community relations and try to avoid another fiasco such as this.

    Here's to hoping anyway

It seems it's impossible to get our BD and artbook back before 2008.
I am curious if we can get them before 2009.

Well, here it is two days later and nothing new to report. While it's true 2K didn't force us to buy the Limited Edition, they did make one available for sale.

As far as fault that they were damaged in shipping, again, who else can you hold responsible but 2K? Poor package design isn't the shipping companies problem, it's whoever designed and implemented it, no?

Like you, I'm not trying to get angry over this either, but I am disappointed that all these months later and this still isn't resolved. While this doesn't affect that it's a great game and I have had tons of fun playing and beating it, it does affect the overall experience with buying the Limited Edition.

An update on the status from 2K should really be done on a regular basis, and not in response to people having to post about it.

I remember buying the limited edition of the game in the summer, and now the new year is approaching. After getting a busted up figurine, 2k has made many false promises and the communication has been unacceptable.

When you make a promise, deliver on it, or alternatively, keep your mouth shut. You actually did me a favor. I will never buy LE of any new release... After all the hype goes away, it is kind of obvious you spend extra money for a pile of China made plastic that would be sitting on a shelf collecting dust.

2k failed when they said back in the end of november that shipping is about to start. There is no excuse why this shoddily made toy isn't sitting on my shelf, collecting dust.

I am angry not because the arm was busted, but rather we are being taken for idiots by this company.

Can't agree more, seriously 2K think we are idiots and we still going buy the games after this incident. Nice try 2K, maybe you fools other ppl but not me. Maybe one person can't change your profits for your company but I am sure other ppl will join eventually. From now on I rather go gamestop and buy ALL 2K games USED. So I am assure all developers at 2K won't get 1 penny from me.

Aren't you guys being a little harsh? They didn't HAVE to offer a replacement program at all, and they're admitting that this has taken a while by elimintating the step of mailing in old figures, which should significantly speed things up once these do finally ship. As an added bonus, most people can fix their broken BD's with some glue or just keep it as "battle damaged," so we basically end up with two figures instead of one. Plus, free artbook!

I can't say that it wouldn't have been nice to have the new figure a little sooner, but I think 2K is going above and beyond in making up for that. Here's to hoping that if the figures are damaged in shipping again and there's a replacement replacement program, next time we end up with a free 2K game of our choice.

Harsh? No, I don't think so.

Not offer a replacement program? OK, then we would have all returned our LE versions of the game and let them take a loss on it.

Fix with glue? You are kidding, right? Tell you what, you help me find the pieces that were pulverized to dust that I haven't vacuumed up by now and I'll try gluing it back together.

Seriously though, keeping people up to date on how an issue is progressing works wonders. Working in the IT field, this is how I keep my job.

I'm sure this will get resolved eventually but it would be nice to know where things are.

I wasn't referring to your comments so much as to kudoshinchi's statement that "From now on I rather go gamestop and buy ALL 2K games USED. So I am assure all developers at 2K won't get 1 penny from me." I feel like writing off 2K entirely over this incident is a little much.

And what the hell happened to your Big Daddy? "Pulverized to dust"? Seriously? Most of the broken ones I've seen (including mine) just have missing arms or fingers or a broken drill tip, so, yes, they could be fixed with glue. That's actually exactly what friends of mine have done as a temporary fix. I apologize for not taking into consideration yours & others whose Big Daddies were annihilated in some kind of strange earthquake or explosion, though.

I agree that their communication hasn't been stellar, and there's no denying that they dropped the ball at least to some extent. I was simply saying that it's a little harsh to boycott the company entirely over a situation that, beyond shipping times, they're more than making up for.

If anyone at 2K still reads this thread is there any chance we can get an update on if the figures have shipped yet or a possible delivery estimation? I recieved the email back in November and am still awaiting my replacement big daddy. I must admit this process is taking longer than I'd have liked but I'm not going to make any rediculous statements like "I'll never buy a 2K game again"

You all make great products and have shown you are more willing to provide customer service than most companies out there. Congratulations on your awards and I hope to see more great games from you in the future. Hopefully with better packaging though

Dude, you had me laughing my ass off with that statement!

Thanks, I needed a good laugh to start my week.

I agree with you that some of these posts are a little "extreme" in regards to how people plan on dealing (or not dealing) with 2K in the future.

I would just like them (2K) to keep me informed as to what's going on without me having to check their forums every week for an update.

I'm sure most of us have many more important things going on to keep track of than a little plastic figurine, but still, we paid for it and should be kept in the know.

There is a rumor saying that all the re-made big daddies are all broken again and need to re-make for the 3rd time.

so let's give them time to remake them again(probably another 4 months) if the rumor is true and hopefully don't break it 3rd time to re-make it for the 4th time.

We shouldn't be making any decisions based on rumors if there was a problem with the remakes 2K should say so rather than leaving us in the dark. No time line should have been given for them being shipped out if they were not actually ready to ship. At this point I just want to know if they have shipped or not and if not why? Keeping people informed is the best way to prevent rumors.

Looking at the people who do make those statements,

I wonder if they are truly after thier replacement or don't want one at all. Just -LOLHERE-itching rights.

    Anything on the replacement?

Nov 20th + 2 weeks to start shipping...

Seems like I should have had this by Dec 20th.. the latest

    What gives?

Just let us know what the holdup is... it's called courtesy

I just made a call to the 2K customer support number regarding still not having received a replacement. I spoke with a gentleman that told me his name was Chris Stevens . He told me that all of the Big Daddy replacements were shipped and that mine “must have been lost in the mail”. I am not certain that I buy that explanation with the other posts from others not receiving a replacement. And this has entered the realm of consumer fraud.

I received an E-mail on November 20th telling me that my replacement would be shipped within two weeks and I have received nothing. I have been patient, way to patient. It is time for 2K to step up to the plate.

I may have been one that would have said that I might buy a 2K game in the future, but it would definitely not be an LE version with a promise attached to it the way that I did with Bioshock LE . However, I have come to realize that 2K values a good relationship with customers so little, that for me to spend my money in the future on anything form 2K will be very unlikely. There really are to many other developers and publishers out there doing there best to please and maintain a positive relationship with customers that are making great games for me to possibly enter into another headache like this debacle for 2K has been.

2K has had more than enough time to make and ship replacements. 2K’s problems are not the customers problems, any good business understands that.

I would hope that 2K would have been smart enough to insure this shippment so that in the event of damage they can do something... pretty sure insurance would cover "lost in transit" as well but than again maybe they didn't bother insuring anything. If the replacements don't start arriving on doorsteps very shortly fraud could certainly be a legal argument.

  26. #146
Count me in as not receiving anything yet (except for the email on 11/20/07). I'm crazy though, since I think about it every day I go for the mail, since then

Is the art book hard cover (ala Gears of War ) or softcover (ala Mass Effect )

Thanks Liz for continuing to check on this. I feel like you're the messenger in 300 (the movie) who gets knocked into the pit by the angry Spartan (King Leonidus) by the angry message boarders

Thanks again Elizabeth. It would have at least been nice to receive the art book by now. I've pretty much written off the replacement figurine at this point.

I think we've all been waiting since August for this whole mess to clear up. But in time (I've got my fingers crossed) it'll be over and we'll all have proper Big Daddy figured.

the artbook is paperback, but it's full size, not scaled down from the PDF

I live in New Zealand and purchased my copy of the collectors edition from www.gpstore.co.nz. Upon receiving it, the big daddy was damaged and totally useless. I contacted the retailer who said they would replace it as soon as the replacements arrived. I've waited ages, and now they say they won't replace them because 2k NZ isn't getting any.

Is this really the case? Did I pay the extra money for the collectors edition for nothing? I feel so let down by this, least because it appears to be a violation of New Zealand's consumer guaratee's act, but mostly because neither 2k NZ or gpstore seem to care.

Is there someone I can contact to organise my replacement, plus the good will gesture book rather than wasting yet more time trying to talk to the people at gpstore?

Any help appreciated. Thank you in advance

2KElizabeth Is there any way emails could be sent out to those who have had big daddies mailed to them? I know you said not all have been sent but I think the email telling us they were being sent within 2 weeks may have some people concerned. I myself am getting worried if my figure shipped it should have arrived and in the event it was "lost in transit" what happens from there are we out of luck or would 2K do something about it?

we don't have an email system in place to notify you when the figure ships. and i'm sorry if people are confused, but don't be alarmed if you don't have your figurine yet. they began shipping within 2 weeks after i emailed the confirmation (in fact i believe just at the end of those 2 weeks) and the process is still continuing. that was only the beginning of the process -- not the end. i'll let you know when they all have shipped.

    UPDATE!

while i can't give you a date on when the last Big Daddy will ship, I can tell you this: they are shipping, but each one is being individually inspected and packed to ensure they arrive to you in one piece. they are also being packed very, very securely this time, so each Big Daddy is getting a lot of love and attention.

i also quadruple confirmed that many have been sent out already.
