I just discovered the project to adapting Civ5 on mobiles...
With in-game strategic view it was not so difficult
Civ 5 should be ported on iPad 2, the power is near to be enough ?
iPad 3 should be quad-core ?

I would say the IPAD2 has nowhere near enough power.
I have a high end gaming laptop and the game still pushes the graphic card pretty hard. I do have all the graphic options turned up to high but I still think that the IPAD2 would not be able to run it.
I'd happily be proven wrong, and if the project succeeds I'd be curious to try it on my IPAD2.
Well... if you force strategic mode, maybe? That removes a lot of the strain on the graphics card (which is not impressive in the ipad) and then everything just boils down to the processor. It's certainly a lot for that little guy to handle... Too much? I'd bet still probably so.
Ipad is great (I really love playing Ticket to Ride on it) but I don't think it's strong enough for a game like Civ V, even if you force using only strategic mode... but maybe?
The number of cores on the device is frankly irrelevant if a single core can't pull hard enough to finish a single task. The iPad2 has no more power in a single core than a top of the line smart phone. Processing a late-game turn on that thing would be ungodly slow.
Conceptually, any tablet would be a great medium for Civ. There is no reason it COULDNT work on a tablet, such as the iPad. However, looking at the game as it is for the PC, I wouldnt hold much hope. Civ runs poorly on powerful desktop PCs. It runs really slow on late game and large maps. I cant figure out why either. Its not maxing out the processor so its not something that is CPU bound. And its not running out of memory, as the OS isnt paging. So what the heck is it doing? Some people in other threads point to a poorly programmed AI. That may be true, but one would think the processor utilization would be much higher.
So unless a complete redesign and rewrite of the code was done, Civ V for the iPad is really a pipe dream.
eff the graphics
give me 2d sprites and and civ5 game play and i am happy
There is a THEORETICAL way to play Civ5 on your iPad. I've done it when I've been really really in my Civ withdrawal. You need the following:
1) A PC running Civ5
2) PC must have a very high upload bandwidth
3) PC is running LogMeIn
4) iPad with internet connection
So here's how we do it.
1) Install LogMeIn to your PC
2) Configure Civ5 to run in WINDOWED MODE before hand
3) Launch LogMeIn on your iPad
4) Connect to your computer
5) Launch Civ5
Works as well as it can refresh the screen due to upload bandwidth limitations. I suggest running in stategic mode or the animated clouds or whatever will kill your screen refresh.
Pff... After Civ for facebook, why not? I'm sure 2k/Firaxis is open to more money making, even if it distracts from working on gameplay.
