    To India & Beyond

Today I was hanging out with my Aunt and Uncle, and my Aunt asked me, "If there is one place in the world you could go right now, where would it be?". After some thinking, and considering the question I realized the answer. India. I thought about it even more and realized if I don't end up going in the next five to ten years, I either won't go or will be too old to really enjoy it (IMO). So, I have a plan.

I'm going to India. That's right.

Why? Possibly one of the oldest civilized places ever. Interesting culture. Good and soothing music. Food is delicious. Also, I plan on finding and possibly befriending a Guru or other religious figure to see how they live, what they do, and possibly find myself and what I feel is the meaning of well... life.

Not now, of course. I still have a lot of planning to do, need to estimate the total amount of money I'll need for plane, hotel/housing, food, transport, spending money, entertainment, etc. I figure I'll be able to get this done relatively quickly just by doing some internet searching. I'll also need to find out where in India I specifically want to go and all that.

Of course, I need to make that money. I'm only fourteen, and in two years I will be old enough for a job. Which is when I start saving. I may be starting my plan way too early, but I think this is a good idea because I have two years to think everything over before I go through with putting real time and energy into it.

If I am on the forums, I'll probably end up reviving this thread (If I remember) in two years time, so I can really discuss.

So, does anyone have any locations they would suggest? Food they like? Things from India that are interesting? What do you think of my plan? Have you been there? What's it like? I have many questions, but basically this thread is my little announcement.

India's cool. Lots of jobs there. It's kind of a slum, but it's improving pretty fast. I honestly think India's going to be a superpower by the time you and I are adults.

Now, when planning your trip, you might want to keep inflation in mind. Now, I'm pretty sure inflation is going to slow down before long (for reasons I'd rather not discuss), but we can't know that.

Yeah, but that's why I'm doing All costs + Few thousand dollars.

That way, I should be in the clear the whole time.

Also, I plan on going in the summer time.

If I was a betting man, which I am, I'd put my money on New Orleans.

Yeah, but it's going to be easier to save when I have a job.

And I have more interests than this trip.

That's not as bad as I thought it'd be. Still is a lot of money though.

    Eyup.

I'm just lucky things are rather cheap over there.

And yes, I converted the money and everything. Not a single Paise, which is their change.

Get shots for typhus, malaria, and any other disease you can think of. Fly for 18 hours. When you get to your hotel room, point the fan at your face so the insects don't get in your mouth or nostrils. Embrace your inner vegetarian, because you won't be eating any meat.

If your aunt and uncle are so kind as to pay for your trip, go to Paris or London maybe, and save the exotic trips for later.

Well, that's rule number one of any trip, to get shots for all that. Also, I think you're confusing Africa for India. There are just about as many bugs there as there are here. Embrace my inner vegetarian? No, actually. There's meat, but not that much beef. Besides I can dig rice and noodles and what ever for a month. And of course the trip is long, it's overseas. >.>

Besides, Paris and London are boring.

Agreed. Paris was a drag, I saw everything and then drove back to Disneyland and rejoined with my family (and my inner 10 year old).

London, I been there twice, maybe three times. First time, I was 8 and it was my first trip abroad so I knew no better, and the second time was last July when I went to the comic con. Which was incredible, so don't go to London unless there's a comic con.

What city did you go to, if you don't mind me asking?
