Thread: Ginormous Granary Issue

    Ginormous Granary Issue

I had placed a farmer house and orchard, along with an un-upgraded granary, giving me food production of 20 from that specific farm house. Upon completely upgrading the granary to ginormous...I was still only receiving 20 food production. This is not intuitive, and is either a bug, or the devs need to release better documentation on how resources are produced.

Is he taking the food TO the granary in question?

Yes, before and after the upgrade. Same level of happiness before and after as well.

What is the production of the Orchard?

  5. #5
40 fruit at the orchard (on grasslands, adjacent to 3 water tiles)
    Workers are happy
Farm house is adjacent to both the orchard and the granary (sits in the middle of them in a small 'triangle')
    Granary is Ginormous

Sometimes when the bonus you'd get from upgrading the drop-off location is so small that it is rounded down to 0. This way you don't notice any difference. More likely to happen when there is a malus (from era or civis on that specific) resource.

If that's the case, then it should either say what the effect of upgrading individual buildings should be, or they should release documentation on the math behind it. The 500 - 600 Production wasted on it is fairly drastic for no gain and no way of knowing that there would not have been a gain >.<

Erm 500-600 Production wasted? It's 200 for upgrading the Granary from large to ginormous.

Don't get me wrong, the boost can NEVER be so small that you don't notice a difference comparing a small to a ginormous building.

200 Per upgrade except for the first upgrade. I didn't count how many times I upgraded it after I built it, but it was at least 2 upgrades, so I suppose 300 at least. Still, there's absolutely no reason I should put any amount of production into something that won't be giving me any kind of benefit.

    EDIT
It was 20 as a small granary, btw. Just clearing that up. None of the upgrades boosted the farms output.

Is there any chance you lost a production bonus around the same time you upgraded? They could have cancelled out. Some eras give a production to food and Prophets also give a boost. If you happened to loose any of those around the same time you upgraded that could be an issue. Or if your farmer lost a neighbor, or nearby trees were built over, of if income tax was inacted, etc. If you haven't tried already, try moving the house to different locations. There is no net loss to moving a house, so you can experiment indefinitely until you find the ideal location for maximum production.

It's certainly possible, but it would have had to of been in the 5 seconds that I spent going from the starter granary to the ginormous. I checked before and after and the production was still at 20. We didn't switch between era's, there weren't any changes in civics as far as I know, etc. As far as I can tell, everything is in the most optimal spot possible, as I don't have any other grass tiles surrounded by 3 water tiles, and there's no where else around that one tile that I can put the house or granary.

That sounds like a bug, production really should have increased by quite some when upgrading.
