Oxford Bombers?

Is it a legit thing to gain advance flight through oxford? Normally I gain flight and im fine with that. just because it stops a foe from taking it before me. But when I tried it last night and followed the recomended tech path... I got SDI defense towers instead? Granted i didnt create the building after discovering indust. I grabed a few more techs because I had a leos workshop in the works. (which might have worked better if I had bombers 1st come to think of it.. ) anyways has this happened to anyone else?

Sure it's fair. You have to build Oxford right after Industrialization though. If you get more techs, you won't get Advanced Flight. To get the useless SDI Defense, you have to go all the way up to Mass Production. Take my advice. Never tech Mass Production. It's a total noob move. Get bombers, then you're done. Bombers and a few land units will destroy everything.

I should add that we've banned Oxford University for most of our tournaments, but it's still completely fair (not a cheat or exploit) except where specifically prohibited.

Well....you can get more techs. Just don't go get Corporation or above.

Printing Press, Metallurgy, Communism, Gunpowder, etc are all fine and you will still get AF, but get steel or corporation and you get automobile or networking.

But those techs are USELESS!

Yeah, you're right. If I GS Industrialization and then get Oxford Bombers, I usually go back and tech Steam Power just because I like cruisers. Cruisers, pikemen and bombers will do the job. I like the speed of cruisers to match the range of bombers.

oh ok so the problem was i got mass production which changed it to SDI defense. I saw a post on here about the bombers but i didnt know it changed what you can get based on teching further. I thought it only gave you an advance military unit. that stupid thing cost me my game last night (although it was very close) I had just been totally thrown off why I got the SDI over bombers. thanks for the quick reply!
