Game crashes trying to load Olympus Heights

Okay, so right when I get the game running without crashes (at least so far), now the game won't load Olympus Heights. I saved my game right before the end of the previous level, then every time I load the game up and trigger then end of the level, the loading screen will come up for about ten seconds, and then freezes with an error message (Bioshock.exe has stopped working). I have tried running it with all settings turned down, and so far nothing works. Can some one please help?

    Thank you for the reply.
    My set up is:

    CPU : Core 2 Duo e6750

Windows Version : Vista Ultimate 32

    Memory: 4gb Mushkin

    DirectX Version : Latest

Graphics Card Name : EVGA Super Overclocked 8800GTS

    Graphics Card Memory : 640MB

Graphics Card Driver Date & Version : Latest Beta Drivers

    Sound Card Name: Audigy 2

Sound Card Driver Date & Version : Latest

I didn't mention it before, but I'm playing on the retail DVD version of the game. I have no problems running the game on full settings under dx10 at 1600x1200 (especially since I disabled the Tablet service in Vista). I also have two separate saves on the level before, and loading either one, then triggering the end of the level still results in the game freezing at the loading screen.

Still hoping for a solution. Any chance of fixing this issue, or at least giving us an update on the patch?

One more bump. If they can't fix a simple problem like this, then 2K should really introduce a buy-back program, or even a recall.

Knowingly selling a defective and unusable product. You'd think there would be laws against that.

There has been a number of complaints about over clocked 8800 video cards. When you installed the video card, is there any software bundled by the manufactuer which allows you to reduce the graphics card back down to "stock" levels?

I would also be interested in testing the saved game on another machine. Have you tried this at all ?

I can test the saved game from this office. Upload the saved game to some webspace and either provide it in a reply, or PM me with the link. Its located at :

    C:\ Users \ <Windows Username> \ Saved Games

On your machine. Just the most recent save please, not the full folder (Can easily be 100meg in there!)

I'll send the savegame ASAP, and yes I can reduce the speed of my card to stock, but I've already reduced the strain on the card by lowering everything to it's lowest possible setting, and the crash still occurs at the exact same instant, so I don't know what it would help to reduce the speed. I'll give it a try though. Thank you.

Can't get Olympus Heights to load, no matter how much I dumb down the setting, although I already play on fairly low setting as is.

    CPU : Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T7100 @ 1.8 GHz (2 CPUs)

Windows Version : Visa Home Premium

    Memory: 2 Gigs

DirectX Version : Running DX9 version to play

Graphics Card Name : nVidia GeForce 8400M GT

Graphics Card Memory : 512 MB (Display tab says 880, but I suck at computers...of course, its a 512 card, but I wanted to make sure I gave you the right info)

Graphics Card Driver Date & Version : 4/20/2007
    7.15.11.117 (latest)
*BETA driver for BioShock isnt compatible with my card

Sound Card Name: RealTek Digital Output

Sound Card Driver Date & Version : 3/12/2007
    6.0.1.5384

Thanks for any help you guys can give! The game has been great to me otherwise so far!

Alright, I fixed the problem. The two things I did was uninstall the game, install the Vista Hotfix from Nvidia, and re-install the game (so hopefully I get an install credit for that). Now it runs just fine, no crashes, every setting at full in dx10, and levels actually load.

So here is everything I did to get the game working, hopefully this helps some of you who are having random crashes and freezes while loading levels:

    Latest Dx10
Latest Nvidia beta drivers (making sure to uninstall old drivers first)
All the Vista hotfixes from the Nvidia link above
    Disabled Tablet Services in Vista
When all else fails, re-install the game.

Hope this helps, since I doubt we can expect a patch that will address all the problems with this game for a very long time.

I run Dx9, however. Any ideas from you guys on that one? My specs were posted in a previous post in this thread.

Please try to download and install the SDK update for DirectX from the following link below. Also try to uninstall and reinstall the game.

Also when updating the graphics driver be sure to uninstall the previous version first. This will reduce the changce of any problems with the drivers.
