    Era victory or no?

Is there a situation where you don't want to achieve an era victory? Any scenario where achieving a victory would put your civ at a disadvantage? I joined a civ and helped them win an era victory (I was the only online player) and I hope I didn't ruin their plans if any. I'd rather not have a bunch of angry players yelling at me.

Well, some people would complain about "opportunistic medal grabbing," but I think in general the only time it would really be an issue is if they were trying not to grab too many wonders in a battle. I can't see how you could spoil that, though.

Well, when I won that victory I didn't get any medals, I just managed to get the civ to the victory point. But someone else in my civ got an achievement And we all got fame of course. So I should in most cases go for victories? Thanks for the answer.

Yeah, has to do with tech completion and obsolete wonders.

Taking wonders past the cultural victory threshold isn't ideal, as it makes future ones that much harder.
