    Bioshock please help!

Hi i need help with my bioshock game for the pc. I got it as a gift about 3 and a half years ago and i still have the disk, the box, and the code but when ever i try putting in the code it tells me i put it in incorrectly. I looked up the problem and i read some threads saying that it had an issue on the pc and limited installations but then i found threads here that said that the limits were taken away yet i still cannot install it. Please help i really want to play it!(i believe this will be installation #4).

Maybe its your PC? The code should work even if the game hasn't been used

I'm sorry you're having trouble installing your game again, Lucid. I'll move this over from General Discussion to Tech Support so you can get more targeted replies.

There are some good FAQ's in the Tech section, and 2K has a decent Knowledge Base located HERE.

I used the search term "code" to come up with THESE possible solutions for you.

Please browse the Knowledge Base and this Tech Help section and see if you can diagnose your problem. It might be something very simple. If all of that fails, and nobody else has a suggestion, please drop me a PM. Good luck!

The same as japester said Lucid, sorry. This site may also help: https://support.securom.com/BioshockUnlock/. I'm not giving the link for the SecurROM unlock issue, but that may also help if you do get the SecuROM issue later. What I'm giving for first is so you can see the chart on it that shows what some of the codes look like. Sometimes, the way they are printed, it is easy to mix them up. So, if that is the case: maybe that chart will help.

I wanted to add as well Lucid, when Bioshock first came out it did have limited activations. Keeping track of how many times a particular serial number was activated was always done on 2K Games side of things. After Bioshock was out for a while, 2K Games made a decision to completely remove any and all limits on the number of activations you can perform with a single Bioshock serial number. This, as it was always on 2K Games side, was done on their side. There are no changes because of the way it was done necessary for any existing copy of any disc for Bioshock. So, effectively, there are no more limits any more. You can feel completely confident in installing the game using your serial number on any number of machines you wish. The one thing that is retained, and you know it is logical, is that even though you could have the game installed on many machines: you do still need the disc in a machine you are using at the time you wish to play it.

Sorry you are having issues, please post back at any time and I hope we've clarified things better for you. If we haven't please just make another post or use the private message function to japester, as he offered, and myself as well if you like.

I installed it 2 or 3 times i believe. The first time was on an older computer but the hd on it died so then i got a new one hd and installed it there(never uninstalled) and the third time was when I tried it on this new computer but i reformatted and this installation is my fourth one. The reason i haven't uninstalled it on my old computer is because I am worried that if i uninstall it and then it doesnt work on this pc im left without a game. The reason i want it on this pc is because my old is much worse and i cant run it on anything more than below average settings and i would love to play it on this computer. Also it tells me that my cd key is invalid when i try it and ive used it before and ive tried it multiple times so i doubt im reading it wrong. please respond as soon as possible and thank you for your time!

Please do not give your product key to anyone, as in don't ask publicly for someone to interpret it for you.

I will direct you further to 2K Elizabeth, email: 2KElizabeth@2kgames.com. She likely won't be the person you get an actual answer from but rather will direct you from there. The reason I am listing her address is because your product key is a very private item. You should not give it to anyone. I should not see it, and so I can't interpret it for you. As an optional thing to do and only because the recipient is a 2K Community Manager, when you email her attach a scan of your product key - not typed, scan, so it is exact. Your situation - unable to get a product key to work - is pretty unique in what has usually occurred so far so doing this may be unorthodox. Given current settings on the activation servers - as in no limits - it just can't be that.

Do give her a bit to respond.
