    Revised Civ 5 Intro Video

If anybody is looking for an alternative to the default intro video played at EVERY startup or if you're tired of staring at a blank screen because you disabled it, check out the video I've created to replace it. Maybe you'll like it!

I've created it a while ago and have been using it since (the patch update didn't even affect it either). Just throwing it out here again if anybody is interested since there's now a renewed interest in the game and it's possibly bringing back older players.

I think it's too short. By the time it gets to the old man saying "Welcome back, my son.", it's loaded for me. I'd still get a blank screen for a short while on something that long.

I get to "... I've missed you. Have the - " Then it loads.
IDK, it's silly, but it just kind of annoys me. I've gotten into the habit of switching off the speakers until I'm in-game.

I switch off my speakers too! And it stops at about the same spot for me, "Have the me-" and then it loads.
I really wish they had done something different.

As in: this thread. Nice job OP. While I probably won't install your intro because I don't like mods generally, I do appreciate the gap you've filled.

    Thanks, Varus.

I think when I used to have the video enabled, I'd get just a little bit passed the ventilation hole in the tent before it was able to load the menu.

Hmm... I didn't realize it takes that long to load the menu screen for some. If that's the case, then I guess you're right, Floating Pants, it's too short and you'll have to see a bit of blank screen towards the end anyway. Bummer.

Perhaps I'll revise it again when I have time and I'll let the Civilization V title linger a bit longer; maybe that would help.

I wish there was a loading bar at the bottom. Sometimes it loads right when the "son" enters the tent, sometimes it takes way longer and its annoying. I press Esc, Enter, Right mouse button, and the left mouse button, because "maybe its done loading and I haven't pressed the right 'skip movie' button yet". A loading bar would at least give me an idea how long its going to take this time around.

Nice job, although I will not install it. Menu screen pops ud just after the Gamespy logo.... God I love my SSD harddisk.

    That's pretty sweet... [drool]

Another reason for me to upgrade my caviar blacks. Well, only my system/applications drive.

I'll take the plunge soon. I just want to wait for the prices to drop a little more since I'll need a larger one to contain all my memory-hog design applications along with the OS, regular apps, and games.

    Also, thanks for the complement.

I am probably in the minority here, but I actually enjoy watching that default video every time I start Civ V.

My load finishes distinctly earlier with the last patch (Jun 2011)
