Lightbulb Its a great game but needs more...

Please do make Mafia III, but make it longer. like from years 51' to 90' and include a swichblade and other knife types as well as Moter cycles and in car firing controls for the guns. put in boats and air planes and more garage space, as well as gun advancement as years go by. make cars more customizble, add hookers and what not. and very important, put in a free roam for after you beat the game in each time period.

The characters aren't the point, the point is that mafia really doesn't need submarines, planes, boats, rocket launchers, more garage space, and yadah yadah...

Seriously, Mafia isn't about the gameplay, it's about the plot, why do the GTA characters seem so ridiculous most of the time? for the amount of stupidities they're allowed to do, simply put, A fun ride=GTA. A cinematic experience=Mafia II, no need to mix them at all, it's like saying the next GTA has to go the Saints Row way.

you guys need to realize there are 8 years olds here that want GTA style mafia here with MP added(team gangster deathmatch, capture the money,etc.).Pretty much all of gametrailers comments.

Now should they make a mafia 3?Well,if they want to make a lot of money from the underage audience that represent a big part, then yes.

PS:get the spellings right at least.I will never take you seriously, ever.

Look my point is they need to make mafia series a bit more interactive. i have an iq of 178+ and trust me i understand fully, the plot and what not.

i just the game should be a bit more interesting, thats all. the 2ed part of the game is in the 50's right? throw more hot rodz in insted of the other lame ass cars, make them up grades more noticeable. the fiftys were a time time of revolution, the recovery of ww2...

look when i play a game i like thing more period, more true to the time and date. for example, the shubert friget is a corvette if u have not noticed and it was not even created as a prototype until '53. in game it is '51 and see them roll right past.

    i...

please excuse my spelling i suffer from disgraphia.

And you're missing the point, you can't expect to find oranges disguised as apples at a grocery store (lame comparation I know...anyway) Mafia was created to show that not all sandboxes had to follow the GTA way, and to show that having a huge city as a background could work in a story driven game.

More garage space? I found it annoying enough that 10 cars could fit in a garage that's as big as a bedroom.

Motorcycles? can you imagine Vito driving one? If he was wearing a long coat it could get quite messy whenever he'd go speeding...(showing them in cutscenes, awesome, making Vito drive them...not so awesome)

The reason why more "customizable" stuff shouldn't be added is because the reason why we take characters such as Vito, Joe and Tommy seriously is because they don't go around stealing submarines and highjacking planes, nor doing random races, it's nice how the story focuses on their jobs, on the stuff they did, not on the stuff they could've done like many mainstream sandboxes out there.

So yeah, Mafia does not need to be more interactive, why? because it was never meant to, it was always shown as a cinematicly linear experience, reason why soooo many people begs for more stuff to do is because they approach this game expecting to find a sandbox, and in return, it's just a really really long movie, take it or leave it.

Woah, you really didn't get it.

What happens when you're wearing a long coat, like the long tailored suits or the raincoat suits Vito has in Mafia II? they'd get stucked in the bike's rear wheel.

and the fact that you recall gta is just marvellous, really, let's put them side to side since they are meant to be so much alike

and once again, you're missing the point, it's not exactly about the bikes, because they were in development at some point (but let's face it...Vito would look kinda silly riding one...) it's about the whole concept of putting too much crap on it at the point where it gets ubberly ridiculous.

I think that when Vito is poor that he should have had public transport and a bike, maybe make it to where when you get rich you can't ride it anymore.

That would be kind of an annoying of a way to restrict a feature, it's like saying that once you get rich, you'll just stop stealing cars and go to Diamond Mottors and get all your new cars, thing is that bikes really don't go on the mafia look, or at least the concept that the Mafia franchise shows IMO.

agree with you but sadly I think Mafia as a cinematic experience is doomed, and I REALLY don't understand why so many want any game set in a city to mirror GTA in terms of features, there are plenty of good sandbox series out there already, there should be room for games that dare to be different and don't pad out the game clock with repetition....

Perhaps it is, perhaps it isn't, if there's ever a new chapter in the Mafia series then hopefully it won't be stormed by critics saying its a "terrible sandbox" when it obviously isn't a sandbox, regardless of being doomed or not, I just hope they don't change the formula, there are plenty of regular sandboxes out there, and there's practicly no games that follow the same rules Mafia does, so for myself I do want it to stay the way it is.

I will guarantee to people that the next mafia 3 will be gta style no doubt. No more cinematic linear experience, only rehashed bull from GTA(the masses are like minded fools, why not serve them the same game always? That's why CoD is so big)

Now.R* takes over the franchise and makes a spin-off,that is different.Personally,I would like R* to go ahead and make it.They have the expereince on making games like this, and I am sure they will make it cold and dirty. It will be like GTA yes,but I would like to see how they make the story out and make it overall fun.Not only R* puts so much money on their products, but takes the time to make it.We may have to wait a good couple of years for it sadly.

That's completly off, R* wouldn't buy Mafia...why would they buy something that goes against what they do?...They already have GTA, they don't need to buy another franchise to turn it into a GTA...people don't seem to realize that R* would get no profit from buying the Mafia franchise, people seems to completly ignore that whatever they'd do in that case they could just pull it off in ANY of their upcoming games, so I ask again, why the hell would they buy it? :/

And I recall once again, Mafia is there to show that not all open-world games are forced to follow the GTA-way, so why would it had to go against that? if it's doomed, we won't see another Mafia game, if it isn't, then I don't think they'll go against what they did and go sandbox all the way, yes perhaps they'll make it more open for that somewhat annoying mainstream public who only wants to play for 2 hours to blow stuff up, but I highly doubt they'd go all the way to add hundreds of sidemissions and dull activities that take you away form the story, after all, everything Mafia has is it's the story, if you wanna roam, there's always the DLCs or FRE.

I would love a Mafia 3 in the next couple of years, it is now my 2nd favorite game (after Red Dead Redemption). Things they could improve on? Don't want a GTA clone that is what made Mafia 2 so unique, the driving mechanics felt so real and not clumsy like GTA and the fighting mechanics were superb (although there could've been more variety, using all 4 action buttons maybe). The story should be longer than 15 chapters, atleast 30 they have told one of the best stories in gaming they could've expanded a tad bit more. Also side missions would've been welcomed, it would've been cool to do other missions for Derek and maybe even a few for Steve when Derek wasn't around, missions for Bruski would be fun, and doing extra things for Henry and other bosses on the side would have been something really awesome when just driving around. All in all I can't wait for the next Mafia!

I don't want GTA styled Mafia, I like Mafia II, and I would like the next Mafia to develope the ideas from this one, instead of been made from the scratch. Anyway my wishlist is:
1.ability to shoot from car windows while driving
2.more pedestrian variety (not a big deal but it's a little bit annoying to see clones everywhere), and variety of their visual appearance
3.other criminals chased by the police on the streets, not just me
4.it will be good to see those guys with their hot-rods on the streets and even be able to challenge them for a race, or maybe go to a place where illegal races happen and see what your modded car can do
5.free ride after beating the game
6.keep the drive simulation option, and car customisation
7.become somebody in the mafia world, not a mafia boss but more like his left hand or something, it's a little bit sh*tty to lose everything that you won with "backbreaking labor" somewhere in the story , and maybe occasional gangster shootings between rival mafia families before and after completing the game

i think for mafia to let you buy cars from diamond motors they would have to make the game too realistic example:- if you broke into a car you could only ride it that day because the police would follow the report someones car has been stolen and eventually would catch you this would then become annoying so you would feel the need to buy your own car and only rob one when you was desperate it would all make sence for you to actually purchase a car, do you agree mr bios?

That actually sounds like quite a good incentive as not to steal for me, the game as it is basicly begs you to steal cars, but if you could lose them as easily like that then it would be worth to buy, but then again, considering how you can pretty much just change the plates on your car and it's colour and yadah yadah, I can see how it's not really possible as of right now.

u sir are too intelligent for this forum because you have answers for everything mafia 2 based, i forgot you could change ur plates lol basically tho i would love a game some day where you could go to a car dealership and purchase your very own car knowing it is yours and its not stolen lol cuz then if sum1 steals ur car you can actually be mad bowt it

Nah, don't make Mafia III asap, in fact take at least a year just to "think" about it, then another year to consider what would make the franchise popular again, then plan 5 years development.

I see some say they hope the formula is not changed, the formula was already changed since the original Mafia is a sandbox complete with side quests, in fact that formula is in Mafia II, or at least the remains of them.

About the mafia in the 40s and 50s?, plenty of good sandbox games with the same atmosphere?, plenty of good sandbox games with contemporary visuals?

I really do think some of you miss the point, it's not just about being a sandbox, it's where and when the sandbox takes place.

the trouble with this idea is NO actual sandbox games have good stories, that's not the point of them, the point is to give the player a huge non linear playground to explore and mess around in, they all have weak tacked on stories.

L A Noire and Mafia 2 were both criticized for not having enough to do in the world, but it seems to me both the press and many gamers just aren't satisfied when a game set in an open world focuses on story, so they want to the combine the two, which doesn't work imo.

L A Noires ridiculous street crime side quests being a great example. Something dramatic happens, the games points you in one direction then tries to take you in another to shoot a man on a roof wearing a mask, you don't know why he's there, why he's shooting at people & it takes < 1 minute to complete now back to the drama....

They're short pointless distractions and nothing more, designed to pad out the games clock and give the illusion of value for money, working for people in Mafia 2 would have been no different, stealing cars, hits etc, it's the same thing, short and repetitive.

it'll be a sad day if/when Mafia goes down this route, the franchise will be ruined, like mixing the story with the arcade DLCs. it'll be a mess, a n other game compared endlessly to games that have been doing the sandbox thing for years and doing it very well, let them get on with it and let Mafia be different.

I have an idea that would make the game way more interesting. in the beginning of the game your character will be able to choose out of three families who he wants to work for during the game, and the story will work out differently depending on who they chose. that way the game will have at least three different stories instead of one. I'd say that mafia 3 picks up where mafia 2 ended except vito's not the main character, but the three mob bosses are eddie because he was falcones underboss, frank vinci's son or underboss, and somebody else maybe even vito.

What a strange thing to say given that Mafia 1 did take that route, and a lot of fans pinned their hopes on Mafia II because of it.

Didn't Mafia I have less sandbox elements than Mafia II? I mean, in Mafia I the only thing you can do outside the story is...go to Lucas?

There were other elements such as cab driving to earn money, things like getting the fare to the destination on time safely, this would have been great in Mafia II with the driving physics involved, but anyway, it's a moot point, sandbox elements that the player could interact with were originally in Mafia II and then scrapped, probably due to time constraints.

Well if you think about it, those elements were from the FRE, and they weren't so different from what you get in Jimmy's/Joe's, you know, going from point A to point B, earn money for that, etc.

And just to point it out, the game was ready to launch at 2009, it's most likely they delayed it to take out those elements that didn't fit in there. but it was probably virtually ready, and I mean, Mafia II has basicly alot more sandbox elements than Mafia I, in the regard of roaming the city, Mafia I has nothing...I mean, literally it has nothing, whilst Mafia II has restaurants, gun shops, clothing shops, etc etc, even though lame and all that, but in that regard it does have more sandbox elements than the first title, Mafia I really has not that much of a "sandbox" other than the FRE, and what it offered were mostly arcade missions anyway.

nah, mafa 3 should take place in the 40's and 50's with a whole new set of characters and a completely new storyline. It wouldn't hae the same cool mobster feeling if it took place in like the 70's. Besides, the cars and music from the 40's and 50's were awesome, thats always a bonus.

2K Games please make a mafia 3 but pleases try to improve on it like The Godfather the game where you rise through the ranks in the family until you eventually become Don and free-roam after the game like GTA 4.

I think they should spend as much time as they need on mafia 3. if the wait is going to be as long as it took for mafia 2 use it. Mafia 3 should be as good as GTA IV was to me (a perfect 10/10 and my favorite game of all time).
