That would be pretty cool. I don't think this game is going to be as flexible and open as Dead Rising tho.
*spoiler*
NO JOKE, BEGGINING OF MAIN QUEST HERE... or so splicer says...
Atlas offers you an escape (at the beggining) through his submarine. He is gonna leave ASAP. Unfortunatley that isn't as soon as either of you would prefer. First he needs you to go seek and destr-- I mean gather the rest of his family so they can get out of this hell hole. I'm not sure why he chooses you, but I'm sure that will have a lot to do with your identity
If you peice together a bunch of stuff (about what main plot line AI's say to you) it sounds a lot like you're (or your past is) very important. As in this is something YOU have to do... which might be a clue to who you are
It would be cool if an area flooded and before it floods completley, you have to get out by using a dive suit or a submersible of some sort![]()
There is a whale in the game that you can ride at one point I think![]()
It's lame, I know, but I always thought it would be cool if you could get into a big daddy suit and explore the water around rapture/get to an otherwise impossible to reach location..
I figured if anything, the developers would include this as a "Vehicle" because it's a change of atmosphere (almost literally) and you can't surface and pretty much escape, like you could with any other vehicle (which I guess would be a submarine, don't see what else there would be unless rapture has roadways...)
...so yea, just a 4:00 AM thought for you guys.
P.S.
If you guys (the devs) use this idea in the second game I want a free copy of the game, credit, and maybe royalties!![]()
instead of royalties i would much prefer one of the characters in the game named after me (like a splicer could be called nick, or a little sister could be called nichola).
I imagine the halls of rapture would be too cramped for a vehicle, and anything the does more than transportation would throw combat balance off.
You better be able to go outside of Rapture. I don't see why they wouldn't do it. Remember that scene in The Abyss where they had to swim in open water to get from one point to another in the station? C'mon now. It has to happen.
You've said nothing, done nothing, and thought nothing that is worthy of even a mention. Deflate yourself.
Anywho, a vehicle would work only if it was confined to either the bathysphere or the seafloor. Otherwise, there would be no good reason to actually, you know, stay at Rapture.
Calm down Keegah, I dont think he would actually expect some sort of royalty check if his ideas DO get put in(wich I doubt). But as far as vehicles go, I dont see them adding anything to the gameplay. For one, as most people have stated the city of Rapture itself(atleast from screens and videos that we have seen thusfar) indicates that it is a lot of corridors and such, much to small for any type of vehicles to manuever through comfortably imo.
Also, as other people have said, I dont see why being able to go into the ocean surrounding rapture would add anything to the gameplay or even the storyline, even if it was just in a diving suit from one part of rapture to the other. Once you let players go into the ocean, you cant put artificial bounds on why they just cant keep going, like an invisible wall, without them complaining it doesnt make any sense. Anyway, I just dont see how it would work with what we have already seen about the gameplay, and why they would even bother putting it in.
There is the bathysphere from the beginning of the game, but i doubt there will be any controllable vehicles in the games.
a zambonie in fort frolic...
You could probably ride the hookers in fort frolic too, although I'm not sure they would be considered "vehicles"
Really though if you were going to add something like a mini-sub at any point in the game the logical "restriction" piece to that would be to add a tether to rapture itself, during the timeline bioshock takes place in, tethered oxygen lines were a popular method of diving, Therefore it would make sense that rapture surpassed the technology involved in diving, but went with something tried and true for an oxygen supply.
What's this, someone over the internet totally misses a joke and goes straight for the kill? Noooooo.
I was just pretty much saying exactly what you were saying just that I didn't explain that you "had to be confined to either the bathysphere or the seafloor." Because I thought that was implied when I mentioned that you should not be allowed to surface (or use a submarine as a vehicle).
It's ok though, you missed the boat on that one![]()
How about a plasmid that allows the user to resist the pressure and breath underwater? That would allow us to not worry about vehicles, diving suits or a limited oxygen supply. It wouldn't be out of the realm of possibilities.
oh and what would be the point of going into the surface you would still die
cause you dont know were to go.
From the video where Rapture first appears after they pan up over the sea floor, it looks like there might me an encapsulatede rail system in the far back right of the screen leading to a smaller set of buildings![]()
Designed by Lyle Lanley, no doubt.![]()
yea, some of you guys don't seem to grasp the concept of jokes (no matter how lame they may be)
As for vehicles, I doubt they are going to be in this game, maybe they are saving it for a sequel 'cause I'm sure they'll introduce some new things to keep the gameplay fresh.
...as for the idea that says "if you'll be able to surface, swim around, a giant squid or shark would eat you if you strayed." I really doubt they'd have that, and I'm sure whoever stated it does to, but that's one of those "Call of Duty"-like scripted events that I hate in games. I don't like not being able to leave a zone and have a random artillery explosion or in this example shark, kill me.
From what I've read, the only instance that's really scripted and could possibly take you out of the game's immersion is when you harvest Adam from the little "girls" and they get taken off-screen and the fact that's the only way to harm them. To me that's very lame, but I understand why they did that.
/end ramble?
I wonder if there are places that you must travel to out side the main city, and that is what the monorail system is used forLike If there are residence, some who are important and have moved out of the city, you must find and interact with as part of the story.
i read that adam comes from slugs on the sea floor. maybe u cud go in a suit and collect them 4 adam?
That would be really awsome......see how much you could grab before your oxygen runs out![]()
