I just saved like 25k tech and then clicked one of the lower techs, lost it all because only 4000 was needed to finish, i think if you have the currency maybe it should be carried forward as really i just wanted to look at the maze lol...

I had this happen a couple times myself too. Very aggravating once you realised what has happened. I have now gotten into the habit of hovering the mouse for the pop-up tooltip first to verify how much science is left and how much I have before clicking.
If tech carried over it would make the game a lot easier. You just have to be careful, and not click just because you want to look at the maze lol...
Valid point, indeed. It never carried over in other civ games either, instead it saved the progression on them in later civs. Even though it is annoying to loose that science, I think that factor (loosing science on switch if the new tech is less than your current total) should remain in place for the tech system of the online civ worlds.
Although, what should be done is a warning gump to let you know if you'll be loosing science by selecting that technology. The gump should include both Accept and Cancel options.
