I get a little concerned advising people as to what type of game they would like, for example citing Mafia II, a game I thoroughly enjoyed, so it that case it depends what you disliked about Mafia II. As for Duke, yeah it got bad reviews; however, since when did critics ever make up my mind for me. I have loved many games hated by critics and in turn have despised many games loved by critics. The game is what you would expect from Duke "silly fun" if that is what your up for than I say give it a go. Unless you have some Steam hangups or other reasons then that may give you pause.

like Mafia 2 in what way? they really couldn't be more different

if you like linear games with dated graphics, childish humor, girls, guns, aliens etc it's for you, I did enjoy it but is it worth full price? barely but my guess is it'll be reduced very quickly.

In strong agreement with Fugue. Just wish I could get the game to stop crashing.I even pre-ordered the game as I never listen to what the critics say when it comes to gaming. All personal preference. I didn't enjoy the latest installation of Call of Duty all that much. It was a good game. I just didn't get what I got out of the previous versions. Chill and see how quickly it goes down in price and pick it up then, or just do it. Life is about choices. Pick one, you only have two. LOL

Critics? dont make me laugh some dont have the same taste as you or i have. i wish we could all enjoy the demo first before we actually but the game first. as for black ops. that was a piece of carbarge!
I think duke wasnt that awefull. just missed a few things i loved to see in the game.
again this is purely personal. i would like to pick up all the guns.. i cant see why duke cant have all the guns? he is the man who gun em all down with whatever gun he has at his disposal. multiplay should also include coop and that isnt only a duke nuke em thing its lacking in most games and should be a standard these days. more room for exploring the rooms like in the old days. you could back and explore the rest of the lvl you were in. i thought i was missing some ways the going to the alien spaceship in out of space and kill that. i thought that was in the atomic pack. how about a tag game in multiplay with poo? the one who get hit with poo is it.. and he has to hit someone with poo.. sound childisch but who cares sounds fun to me.
i hope more people show more idea's for the duke there. i think we might help the duke to a great game.

If you're worried about getting a value and you play PC, buy the EVGA deal. For what is a very reasonable price for an insane video card ($244) , you get the game, a killer mouse pad, and the belt buckle that's been worth well over $50 on ebay so far.

You could actually hate the game, never play it again, sell the mouse pad and belt buckle, and you'd still have the game and an insane video card, for a lot less than any video card similar.

I totally enjoy the game, by the way.

They should've either go old-duke3d all the way, or console halo weapon-limit cower only. They tried having it both ways, and failed in both. This game is a bargain bin rental. And this is without the 10+ year delay.

I'd try hard to play a demo first. If you do end up PLAYING the game - PC is the best way to do it, but only slightly. Honestly - it's not worth full price, at least not compared to what value you can get for your money elsewhere. And I'm not sure the Mafia 2 comparison...as a critic of Mafia 2 - I'd say that game is infinitely better.

    This.

If you happen to need a new graphics card and have any interest in Duke: Go Here.

Get a hold of them "while supplies last."
