When we return to a Civ World game after being away for even just a few hours, a very large number of messages greet us. Here's a typical set of messages I got:
- "A new Era has begun"
- "A new Era has begun"
- "A new Era has begun"
- "A new Era has begun"
- "A new Era has begun"
- "Your nation has entered a battle."
- "A new Era has begun"
- "A new Era has begun"
- "Your nation has entered a battle."
- "A new Era has begun"
It's really not very useful.
Firstly, the messages are too generic. The messages above should specify details like the name of the Era, or which nation we went to battle with.
But most importantly expired messages should be replaced with an up-to-date message. For example, there should have been just one 'Era' message which tells me what Era we are now one — I don't care about the ones that have been and gone. And I don't care about whether we entered a battle; rather I care about whether we are currently in a battle or have won or have lost a battle. A better message system might only show me two or three really important things, instead of a dozen things that are no longer relevant.
