I've read a lot of the threads about wandering players. My 1st game (154), I was 2nd to join, and stayed the whole game (we won). After reading the complaints before (and during) my 2nd game (173), I tried out the various scenarios given and this is my response. Many of the penalties suggested have been draconian. Here's something simpler, and easier to implement.
When a player leaves a group, remove any fame points earned in that group. This could be most easily implemented by saving the fame counter as a player joins the group, and restoring it any time they leave the group. This would not apply to fame earned as an independent city-state.
A slightly harder to implement proposal would be that they also lose all medals gained during their stay. But that would require keeping the joining time, and a time for each medal. It's only per medal per group per game, and there really aren't that many medals, so it should scale.
The player can keep the achievements gained, as they actually happened and have already prevented other players from gaining them. Also, keep any related items purchased for their Throne Room.
Is this enough of a penalty to prevent folks from dashing into smaller groups, picking up an easier medal, and leaving again?
