--------------------------------------------------
I reported the same problem with my E6700 2.66 + Vista + 2 gigs of RAM + SB Audigy: i.e. no sound after the intro. Then I spoke to a nice fellow who got me running in 15 minutes.
- First he had me navigate to the .exe file which in my computer is located in
C:\Program Files\2K Games\BioShock\Builds\Release\Bioshock.exe
- Then I right-clicked on the file, clicked Properties, clicked the Compatibility tab and changed the little box within it to use XP to open the file
- I then made a shortcut from that icon to my desktop to launch
- He advised me to change my audio settings: EAX off, reverb off, and put it on stereo (though I have quad speakers)
At that point it still didn't work so I had to tweak a line or two of code in the Default.ini file in the same location as the Bioshock.exe file. I won't try to explain that because I'd probably screw it up so if it gets to that point just call them;
(or PM me I suppose)
Godspeed. I expect the game to fail again soon -- most likely due to some sort of gypsy curse or "black magic" but at least I got this far.
