I still don't have any ingame sounds....So where's the patch!

Pretty much everybode with a "Realtek High Definition Audio" or "SigmaTel High Definition Audio" sound-card isn't able to hear any ingame sounds. You guys know that! And I've already asked when there will be patch! But nobody answered. Why not? Do you not care about costumers who've already bought Bioshock.
(BTW: Starting the game in XP mode doesn't help!)

    And once again:
    I Have a Dell Inspiron 9400
    T7200 Dual Core(2GHZ)
    Vista
uGeforce 7900 Go Gs (163,44 driver)
    2 gb ram
    SigmaTel High Definition Audio
Intel 82801GBM ICH7-M - High Definition Audio Controller [A-1] PCI

hm... that's weird. I also have a SigMaTel Sound Card or however the AaAa thingy goes... and haven't got any sound problems.

i'm running in xp 32 bit
    1024x768
    7950gt
    2gb ram
    p4 3.6ghz

i thought it was mainly just vista users that were having sound issues... probably a driver issue on the sound card installed in vista... though i don't really know anything, so unfortunately you'll have to wait for the "when it's done" patch.

p.s. though my game crashes at every level change 8/9 times, so i restart, reload, crash, restart and try again...

Ja, it's a Vista only problem, I guess. Can I somehow get my money back? Seriously, 2K!

    Vista/ Intel sound issue SOLUTION!

I also have Vista with the onboard SigmaTel High Definition Audio
Intel 8 channel (7.1)- High Definition Audio Controller. Though mine is not a laptop the same problem exists -- I also had the same issue as you no sound durning game play. The solution is simple and not at all 2k's fault and is probably why they havent responded. For any issues with computers always check to make sure your drivers are up to date. Which in your case i know they are not. Steps to fix your problem -------Simply uninstall the sigmatel drivers reboot and let vista auto install the audio drivers through the new hardware wizard (auto). YOU MUST LET VISTA AUTO SETUP THE SOUND CARD DRIVERS FIRST! Then go to the DELL web sitefor your laptop:
    http://support.dell.com/support/down...WW1&hidlang=en

From there simply select the latest version of the sigmatel drivers (version 92xx which is basically the same driver version for my media pc) download and presto you will now have sound throught the game! You should update all motherboard drivers periodically like the chipset, audio, management engine drivers (though only update the bios when it specifically fixes an issue) just so you stay up to date with the tech and new fixes for old problems.

    My specs:
    C2D E6400
    MB DG956OT
    8800gts 640
    3gb corsair 6400

I have Realtek High Definition Audio and I'm running Windows Vista Business 64-Bit. No problems here so it's not everyone with Realtek.

As I've already said in earlier posts, it's an issue with a combination of things, but 2K isn't innocent. It appears as if:
    - Most people with Windows XP don't have problems, but some do
    - A lot of people with Realtek/Sigmatel on board sound chips have problems, but some don't
    - All other games work, for everyone

Therefore, we have a random combination of Bioshock + X, X being Vista and/or the soundcard.

Take that information and investigate. If you don't have a slight inkling already based on this information, do it empirically. Or get an XPS Gen 2, which is defined set of hardware, whack Windows Vista on it and hear it crackle, and then investigate in situ.

It's really not rocket science, but it is definitely about priorities. And they seem to lie elsewhere (i.e. not with the customers who have actually bought bloody thing already).

Oh, and just for the record, the drivers don't change anything, or any of the other Voodoo methods suggested so far (DirectX 9, using lower version shaders, Administrative rights, hardware acceleration and whatnot). There are some genuine cases out there (including mine) where nothing helps. But only with Bioshock. Go figure...

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

All other PC games work completely bug-free for everyone in the world.

Nice statement there. I'm sure it's entirely accurate.

A lot of the people that have the problems are people that havent updated their software. It is a newer game which requires more sophisticated drivers. That is why it suggests everywhere update your drivers. 75% of probs out there are driver related 10% are problems with the game itself 5% are from people with ☺☺☺☺ty hardware and 10% are from people that dont know how to use a calculator so they have no chance with a computer.
