[bug] Moving an improved building (any improvement level) removes ALL improvements

I had a maximum level granary but when I moved it to a new location the granary reverted to a level 1 version. It seems to be that when you move any building you are refunded the base cost, not the improved building cost, but then upon placing the building it only builds the lowest level version.

Edit: Just found this is the FAQ "Be careful when moving upgraded buildings, as these will turn back into small buildings when they are moved". I would strongly suggest adding a warning to the "move/recycle" tooltip indicating this will occur as it is not noted in the game (and is certainly a shock when it happens).

I completely agree, I ran into this same issue a few times.

fwiw it refunds the full base cost, plus half of what you spent to improve it. Note the implications of doing that in conjunction with Renaissance and Industrial Revolution...

    Hi DanM,
I, of course, know EVERYTHING about this game, but for those watching at home could you explain what "the implications of doing that in conjunction with Renaissance and Industrial Revolution" would entail
    Cheers!

What Dan is implying is that if you build a small building, then use great people to pop Renaissance (upgrades one small building of each building type in your city to modest), and then Industrial Revolution (ditto, but upgrades modest to large), you now have a large building that you can recycle for more production points than you put in. So long as your civ has great people to spare, it's an easy way to get a bunch of free production.

Yeah, thats not going to help anyone. the great people used for those are worth way more than the production bonus youre going to get.

You only get half the base resources back on guard towers and village green too.

But, it's def. worth the cost of the great people to upgrade your palace from small to large, and you can get a grip of extra production by building a bunch of small buildings beforehand and selling them afterwards.

    Thanks for the responses.
I guess my problem isn't so much with the game mechanic as it is the wording of the tooltip for the "move/recycle". Re-reading the tooltip "up to 100%" makes sense, but I think it should read something along the lines of what DanM said: "refunds the full base cost, plus half of what you spent to improve it". Either the above, or perhaps when mousing over the building to be scrapped the tooltip, instead of putting the refund number in brackets (I initially had no idea what that number was), could state "Recycling Refund: XX".
