    ATi Graphics issues.

Hi im new to the forums. i have alittle bit of an issue here with bioshock.. just bought the damn game thinking my PC meet the minimum requirements. Now i realize that the minim specs state X1300 or better, but i thought it was worth the risk since my X850 Meet the memory requirements and i thought it meet the pixel 3.0 requirements also.. either i was wrong or my driver's or just acting up. the game cinematic's work perfectly fine, its just the in-game graphics are horribly corrupted and look like this

    http://img468.imageshack.us/img468/3...tionoq2.th.jpg

    my specs :

    Windows XP
    Intel P4 2.40GHz
    ATi Radeon X850 250mb ram
    SB X-Fi
    1GB Ram

anyone have any idea why its doing this or is my card just not supported by the game and im screwed out of the money?

wow I have no idea what the problem is. no body else with those ATI x000 series cards are having problems. the game runs perfect right out of the box for shader model 2.0 cards.

This game does not support Shader Model 2.0 cards such as the X800 series.

You'll have to buy a new video card if you ever want to play this game on your computer.

The PC user community is working on getting SM2.0 cards to run the game. They have beta out atm.

well, ya the card is well above minimum... other than you only have shader model 2.0b on that

the x850xt is comparable to a 7800gt otherwise.

theres a thread normaly floating around the first page on threads to get the game lookin alright on shader 2.0b cards. give it a whirl!

They are only comparable at high resolutions(1600x1200) with AA enabled, otherwise the 7800gt smokes it. Neither of those cards should be running at resolutions that high with anything released in the last year or so. I would sell your card and pick up an x19xx or 8600GTS or 8800. I doubt the patch is going to look as nice as SM3, or run decently.

There's a community-based effort to provide support for Shader Model 2.0 in Bioshock. The results with Shader Model 2.0b cards like your X850 are promising. I recommend you check out the "Project Summary" thread at the top of the project's forums:

The ATI X850 is not supported. Get a new video card.
