Adjustable production and research percentages in game setup

    Hello,

I would just like the option of being able to adjust the research and production before a game setup.

Sometimes my friends and I feel the research goes too fast and we would like the option to set the research on say a standard speed game to take twice as long as it normally would. This would increase the time in the ages and allow our empires to expand while still in the earlier stages of the game. Sometimes its not fun to have your first war in the medieval or even renaissance era.

An option to turn off research agreements would also be nice.

We are just looking for a few of these options when we setup a game.

You can do this in XML. It's never going to be an in game option because Firaxis can't test all possible random rates to see if it works right. This is modding and you have the power to do it already.

That requires me to learn how to mod the civ 5 files and go through everything, then learn how to debug it.

Chances are decent that someone out there already did it. Have you browsed the mods?

There are some additional methods of gaining techs, like:
    - Great scientists.
    - Great library.
    - Scientific Revolution policy.
They'll need a lot of balancing, otherwise, you'll soon find out your game lost a lot of variety.
