    MOD: Units - Mounted Units

    Inspired by http://forums.2kgames.com/showthread...rain-resources ...

This mod permits Warriors, Spearmen, Archers and Scouts (but not special versions of these units) to build a corral on un-improved horse resources anywhere on the map, and then "mount up"

The horses are consumed in the process, but the mounted unit does not require a horse resource to maintain it (watch out for Goody Hut upgrades though as they will promote the unit to one that does require horses to maintain it)

You can find this mod on the Mod Hub under Units -> Ancient

Version 3 uploaded - fixes issue with the Horses resource icon being left behind after the unit has "mounted-up"

I have a question. Once the corral is built I assume you can continually bring units there to mount up? Otherwise it would not make since. Why would you consume all the horses in a resource for just for a single unit.

The horses are consumed - it's a classic "short term gain" (a fast mounted unit, potentially a long way from your nearest city) vs "long term benefit" decision

Your mods are all great; I especially like Textile Mill , barb XP increaser, and all the interface (luxuries, trade, etc).

Anyway, hoping this thread is still somewhat alive... this mounted MOD prevents mounted units from later upgrading. Was this intentional to keep them from becoming too powerful? I think it would be just thrilling to have longswordsmen and gatling guns riding around on horsies, no? Plus you end up 'losing' super-promoted melee and ranged units from early game if you 'mount up.' Thoughts?

    It was intentional
