I bought Civ 4 complete on steam when they had a sale, it opens and plays vanilla and BTS just fine on my W7 box, but when I try to open warlords, I get an error that says "failed to find steam". Steam support said try repairing steam, did that with no fix. Then they said validate the game files, did that, no fix.

Uninstalled and reinstalled the steam warlords, no fix. Installed, uninstalled and reinstalled on a second W7 box, no fix. Notable was the first install actually got the game started, but got the "can't find steam" error on all subsequent run attempts, included the first one after the reinstall. The one thing I did after the one successful run was to make sure that warlords runs as administrator, and make sure priviledges were set such that the CFC HOF mod would run for their GOTM series.

Steam support punted this to 2K, so here I am. The didn't tell me exactly what "can't find steam" means ... can't find folder, can't find my open account, can't find website, etc.
