    Rapture Radio Has Returned

    Greetings, Citizens of Rapture.

With all the celebration going on over in the UK, we delayed launch of the radio but now
you can listen to it here http://www.rapturearchives.org/html/museum.html

Click the link 'Listen to Rapture Radio'

Let me know what you think, suggested improvements/refinements.

    Enjoy.

Perfect. Exactly what I thought it would be, I now have something to listen to while I'm browsing the forums.

4*. I only listened to three songs, but a suggestion--if possible-- include some of the rapture reminders as commercials every 8 songs or whatever...and include some homemade commercials (ex. the one about itunes)...5* when available. REALLY looking forward to visiting again.

I listened to it a bit and thought it was great. I like the fact that it has songs that were featured in the game as well as ones that are not but are still from the time period.

I've come back with a few suggestions I like blake2t2 ideas I aslo think a few plasmid commericials would go well as well as the other stuff adevertised in Rapture (there are pictures of them in the back of the art book) and Rise Rapture Rise could be played as well.

I'd be happy to help out in anyway possible, good work

There are plans to include commercials/announcements. Rise Rapture Rise is a good idea! Thank you Atlas.
I thought about making custom ads that match posters in Rapture but I have not found the proper radio voice yet.

Is anyone having any problems with playback and is the radio displaying correctly?

Yes. I have the scripts ready that they will read, but I have not found the right radio voice to read from the script. In post production the recordings would be piped through distance modulation filters and a light layer of static to simulate the vintage sound that radio announcers had. I need a man most likely in his late 40's early 50's to make it sound authentic. I can't use my own voice cause I'm just a kid.

They need to be recorded with a decent microphone, not a webcam/desktop mic, in a room with no ambient noise. I would also prefer if they were recorded by someone with no heavy accent. People who speak English in other countries sometimes have a hard accent, me included. Do you think you got the voice for a radio announcer?

I asked 2K if they had any more of the original Rapture Radio announcer recordings but they had no clue what I was talking about and thought it was an outside job. It would be nice if someone came forward with the other recordings from the Radio Broadcast Feb 9 2010 but I doubt we will ever see them. =(

Thank's for this! Extremely pleased that I can finally listen to a radio station without turning it off due to the lack of good music.

Thank You! are you having any issues with playback or the function of the radio console?

I thought it was interesting that, within 48 hours the radio has broadcast to 17 different countries, top countries are the UK, USA, Germany, Sweden, Denmark.

Top States in the USA are:

    Oakland, California
    Dallas, Texas,
    New York, Newyork

Keep it tuned to Rapture Radio, and please report playback issues and if the console is not working properly for your configuration so I can trouble shoot it.

Plasmid commercials will start streaming tomorrow, resolving gain issues.

    Cheers, Tapper

Looking pretty good . I'm just waiting for my song to come on.

I will say though, is "Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammunition" really appropriate in Rapture? God and Military references in one.

Not sure what song your waiting for... ;-)

Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammunition was a song featured in the game and in the trailer, so its considered to be a part of Rapture. Because of such it is included on Rapture Radio.

    Glad your enjoying it.

According to statistics people are tuning in an average of 23 minutes at a time, and listeners from 27 different countries have tuned in which was a surprise to me. Highest listening peak is when the USA is sleeping, interesting.

btw, ads have been added to the radio, enjoy.

Tapper, it's awesome that you got the station running on the site. It's like eating potatoe chips; I can't stop once I start it up. I hope more songs from the game could be uploaded. Keep it up. Loving the ads.

I could say I've been contributing to the late night listening, since I've been having insomnia.

I am glad your are enjoying the ads, I just wish the source files for the original rapture radio announcer was found by someone cause they were epic. The radio will not remain static, the playlist won't always be the same so songs you enjoyed in Bioshock, may be available on the radio next week etc.

Depending on the demand for Rapture Radio, KNO radio may launch in the summer and would feature songs that are true to raptures' timeline but were not heard in BS1 or BS2. If the new station launches, then Rapture Radio will be the 'purist' radio station.

Keep it tuned to Rapture Radio.

This contains the list of all the songs that played on the original Rapture Radio station, my facsimile will contain all these songs at some point or another so don't worry.

Well done rooty. I like the final radio version compared to the one you had before, it fits better with your sites' look and feel. The advertisements are a nice touch, do you need someone to do the ads for you? the work you have done on the site is looking really nice, keep up the good work. Just curious but is the journey to the surface section almost done yet?

Someone is helping me out with the ads, no offence but I would prefer a male radio announcer over a female one, as for JttS, it's still in development, mainly because its difficult to transfer a 3d setting to a 2d screen effectively but it is still being worked on.

Sorry for replying so late, was busy with finals.

    Cheers,
    Tapper

Hey I just wanted to say thanks for posting this! I hope you will keep it up a long time because I'm thinking of doing a Bioshock themed Halloween party next year and this would be the perfect station to play during it!
I've been listening to it while surfing the web and I have to say it's great web-surfing music too.

Well folks it was fun while it lasted, early today a take down request was sent by two major copyright holders. The radio is down until I can negotiate terms and reach an understanding. I was told it could continue if some conditions are met, sorry for this inconvenience, I guess Rapture is on their radar after all =/

The radio was highly successful with peak times occurring while the USA slept and in the early morning EST. Depending on a decision that is reached KNO radio will launch as well, otherwise it was great while it lasted.

    Cheers,
    Tapper

They should be happy that their music is getting listened to again. Oh well... $$ makes the world go round.
