Was Fine, But Now It Won't Run

I had been running BioShock fine. Due to other problems I had to reformat my computer using an image I created in July. After successfully restoring the image, I updated my motherboard drivers and video card drivers (Forceware 163.44 Beta).

Now, all the menus show up fine, but when I start BioShock and hit "NEW GAME" the loading screen comes up, but is barely visible and when I say barely, I mean barely. It seems to get stuck here and will go no further. I tried uninstalling and installing several times, but that has not worked. I have to ccontrol-alt-delete to get out of the game and when I restart, all of my video & audio options are back to default.

I cannot imagine what the problem could be. The only thing different is I'm using more current drivers for my motherboard (nForce 15.08 dated August 28th).

Any help would be appreciated. Specs below:

    Windows Vista Home Premium (UAC=off)
    Intel Core2 Duo 6420 (2.13GHz)
XFX NVIDIA nForce 650i Ultra Motherboard
    Patriot Extreme Performance 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2800
Seagate Barracuda 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0 HDD
    Creative XF-i Fata1ity

Do you have the latest version of DirectX from www.microsoft.com

You may also consider the following two patches for Vista by Microsoft

Funny, right after I posted this message, I went to nVidia's page and saw links for these hotfixes and downloaded them. Unfortunately- same story .

So to confirm you have both the latest directx from the microsoft.com website
And also both of the security updates.

Your reply mentioned looking at the nvidia website?
The nvidia website will not mention about these updates for windows.

I did try updated DirectX also. I think I'm going to do a reformat and start from scratch.

As much as I hated to do it; I reformatted and reinstalled everything. Now working fine.
