    Hello,

Please fully disable your background software by using msconfig (please see below)
    Msconfig.
    - click on the start menu
    - click on run
    - type in the following MSCONFIG
    - click on the startup tab
    - deselect all the tick boxes
    - click on apply and then close
    - restart your computer
    - when your computer starts up again, please ignore any messages from msconfig (do not close these)
    - try the install again, did this work?

To return to the original startup sequence follow below instructions
    - click start menu
    - click run
    - type in the following MSCONFIG
    - click on normal startup
    - click on apply and then close
    - restart your computer

Also have you tried using the DVD inside another DVD drive, just to be sure this is not a problem with the physical disk.

I tried what you posted above. Though it doesn't work. The disc is working on another dvd station.

I'm using this dvd r/rw drive: HL-DT-ST DVD+-RW GSA H21N. maybe it has something to do with the drive

I cant help you unfortunatley but i did have a simmilar problem to what you have.

When i first tried to install the game i put the disc in my DVD drive and the drive could not read it. then the drive somehow completely uninstalled itself from my PC and disappeared from my computer, device manager and my Bios. I tried rebooting but that didn't help and the drive wouldn't open even with the emergency pin hole. Unexplainably some hours later and after a few reboots the drive appeared and started working and could read the DVD properly. I have NFI what was up with it

Anyway the key point here is that my DVD drive is a HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4163B. Seems it might be a problem with LG DVD drives maybe?

You could try rebooting a few times and then waiting a day and maybe yours will work like mine did.

Check that windows is not set for desktop recording. Right click on your DVD drive select properties and choose the recoding tab. Un-tick both boxes on this panel and re-insert your disc.

Indeed, further to this information the problem can sometimes be caused by particular DVD writing software. Sometimes people are forced to remove all the CD/DVD writing software from their machine and then reinstall the game.

    LG DVD Drive Problem

I have an LG DVD-ROM drive. It is strictly a DVD drive, not an RW drive. I don't have any recording software installed on my machine and never have. I'm having the same issue as above. Just purchased the game, put it in to install and the drive hums and clicks lightly and nothing happens. If i right click on my drive and try to explore it tells me to insert a disc.

The disc works fine in my laptop.

The DVD drive is only 2 years old and i'm not prepared to buy a new one just to run a $60 game.

    Any ideas?

    Drive Problem Solution

I was able to get this to work last night by playing around with my drive properties.

I was sharing the DVD drive over my network, unshared it and voila, it detected the DVD in the drive and works fine.

I have no idea why this would have caused this issue but thought I should post my findings as it may help others with the same problem.
