Post Why do you play MMORPGs? (thesis work)

    Hello all!

Me and a friend from Stockholms university are conducting our bachelor thesis and we need your help to complete it.
We are trying to reveal what factors matter when it comes to deciding on whether or not to play an MMORPG.
In this thesis we are using two different methods to get results. In the first part that is allready conducted
we interviewed around 100 people on their thoughts behind their MMORPG playing.
The results from thous interviews helped us make this survey.
There are a lot of questions but the questions shouldent take too long to answer.
We hope that you can offer us a few minutes of your time to answer our questions about MMORPGs.
This thesis will later be published online at Stockholm university.
No personal information will be published.

    Thanks for your time!

Moving this thread over to Video Games.

Best of luck on your research. I shy away from MMOs entirely these days, after playing one pretty heavily for a few years.

We'll allow this link, but I do have one question: why is "Email" a required field?

I think so they can contact us if needed. Doubt they would put us on a mailing list.

Thanks, sorry for the missplacement of the topic The email is just to get the teacher off our back basicly. Some kind of verification that the answer is legit basicly. So we wont use it to anything. And thanks for answering you guys. The survey will be open for another week, then we will move on and start the analyze.

I've played a lot of different MMOs. The first one that could be considered massive I suppose was a game called Air Warrior. A friend down the street has me playing Star Trek Online while waiting for Bioware's TOR to be released. I have plenty of friends and am a regular at a karaoke bar (AND I actually sing there, sometimes very badly, sometimes pretty damn well).

and, AND It has only been 3 days since I had sex... WITH A REAL LIVE GIRL *crowd gasps*. That's a repeatable quest that resets in 3 hours. I can say your quote definitely does not apply to "all". People play MMOs for lots of different reasons.

Just because of the fact that it's a wide world that you can take your time in. Video games designed in levels that finish after the final stage (Twilight Princess, for example) tend to feel pressuring.

    I love WoW!
    NERF THE HOARD!!!

lol, every single MMO out there is just a clone of WoW. They should play the REAL game.
Rift, Runes of Magic, Runescape, EVE Online and that Bioware one are all copies of WoW.
