Well, that looks believable enough, unless someone's gone to a lot of trouble for a joke. Wow.
The quality of the art is so high, it seems legit to me.
Although I'm really not a fan of a polynesian civilization the screens have interested me (= I'll 100% buy it).
And it seems Firaxis is listening to the forummers here![]()
it's legit..that's why 10 extra achievements have been added to CiV. It's on Steam and CivFanatics, but not yet "Officially" announced.
This DLC and the upcoming patch is no coincidence
And the new Civ:
Leader: Komehameha
Trait: Wayfinding
Can embark and move over Oceans immediately. +1 sight when embarked. +10% combat strength if within 2 tiles of a Moai
Special Unit: Maori Warrior

That looks pretty cool...wonder if there will be another DLC Civ along with it...they always come in pairs...
Looks like the special building is the Moi Statues?
@foxdie
I can't look at the moment, but where did you get that info?
Personally, I'd rather they spent the time fixing the game....then again...that wouldn't generate income would it!![]()
Its tiny, but just about readable from the screnshots on Eurogamer. (Hence why my spelling is a little out)
Right, with you, sorry. My eyes aren't that good anymore![]()
Meh! To 'spoilers'.
This (http://images.eurogamer.net/assets/a...view_5.jpg.jpg) looks like +10% and near a 'Moai' (their UB or maybe a terrain improvement) and the UU is Maori Warrior.
It is. I've corrected my post.
so does Babylon price get lowered?
CVG includes a description of the accompanying scenario here.
There is also more info on the free multiplayer map pack.Scenario Description:
In Paradise Found, players take on the role of one of the four great Polynesian kingdoms as they strive to become the dominant culture in Polynesia. All-new technology and social policy trees unlock powerful advantages to players, including the fearsome Maori Warrior and the enigmatic Moai. Special changes to the game rules allow players to build expansive kingdoms quickly without impeding their cultural growth, but the seas of the Pacific are huge and land is at a premium among the atolls and islands. Take the best islands for yourself, and prove your mana as a ruler as you build Polynesia to stand the test of time!
Great choice. This really goes to show that someone's been reading our "Next DLC/Expansion Civ" discussions. Polynesia might not have won any polls, but among forum members who actually post ideas and discuss proposals, Polynesia has always dominated.
Kudos to Greg and anyone else who was involved in making this selection.
Passing on this one, I bought 4 DLCs already and the game received little love, I will start buying DLCs again when the dozens of AI bugs and unreasonable behaviours are fixed and when I will be able to play a game on a large map without falling asleep between turns.
If this is truly legit (and a quick search on google shows other sites giving the same message)...idk. On one hand, more is merrier for me, so I'll definitely be buying and playing as Polynesia. On the other hand, Polynesia isn't my first choice. Nevertheless, thank you 2k for the new DLC. You still have a customer in me. I'm curious as to how the Polynesians will play.
Does it suggest that the Feb patch will be released on March 3?
I think it's nice that they did add them though. It'll make island/small continent games more interesting by bumping up the number of civs that can compete there.
Always assuming the AI can handle the shipping. Or are you thinking of human players?
thinking more of human players
but if the AI starts with the ability to wander the seas, they'll use it for the initial settler spam, taking down nice islands. (maybe.. their choice of settling positions still sucks) SO at least they won't need contiguous land formations early game.
I was thinking more about whether the AI can handle the later naval combat that will be needed to hold it all together.
Whoah. Is that civ-specific social policies I see, or will that only be available in the scenario?
Im pretty sure it'll be scenario specific.
Yeah, I only just realized all the other policy trees are empty. I don't normally play scenarios (or buy DLC) but this one is looking interesting.
so another unique improvement
unlock with calendar?
Anyone buying DLC just proves them they can sell unfinished beta crap.
btw its official

Looks pretty cool! I'm definitely getting that one too!
With regards to the Moai statues, I don't think they're a building as was written up top. I believe it's a land improvement. They also look a lot nicer than those hideous terrace farms!
While I am happy for the Polynesian Civ, I wish they actually included a Polynesian civilization instead of going the "Native American Empire" route and lumping a bunch of very distinct indigenous people under one geographic banner.
i think the terrace farms look awesome :LLLLLLLLLL
From the pcgamer article:From 2KGreg's opening post for the February patch:A map pack will also be released for free alongside the new DLC, adding the Skirmish, Ring and Ancient Lake maps to everyone’s game. The new maps will arrive automatically through a Steam update.
This makes me thinking that the patch will be an early March patch![]()
To be fair, did Greg ever say the patch was to be released in Feb? I think it could have been an inadvertent implication, as they were maybe the "February patch notes", actually meaning ongoing patch notes, showing status for February.
