Kind of moot considering how short the game was. Anyway, you might have tried for quick catapults in which case your tech was better!
You were moaning about how bad your start was but then you took Beijing and got Writing, which seems decent to me. Of course mine was a lot better. Your GP was also an unknown. But anyway, you're probably right. I could have just spit out like 20 cities and got knights fast. My dislike of playing America drives me in sub-optimal directions.
Also I settled a turn before you, so big help there and the hill next to your cap didn't hurt. I could have just tried to camp you in, but I thought I had decent odds to just kill you. Guaranteed warrior war as we both settled with three trees and one water.
Guess i could have taken the hill but i didnt want a button race.

Got it last night. Breezy is also looking for me so I'll try to be on a least a little most nights. Tonight I have a soccer match so it kind of depends on whether I'm out celebrating or heading home early with my head hung in shame (unfortunately the latter is far more likely).
I received a challenge from EPICBEARD tonight. We ended up playing all mirror matches.
Zulu: I spawned on an island, got a 30g barb, then broke another for horseback riding. Worst possible island tech! Karakorum was also on the island so I took that, but there was no more gold and I had to hammer galleys. I got an impi army to the mainland but EB killed it 2-3 off a hill with a single impi. Just the kind of luck I need! I was going to try for a desperate legion rush (not that I'd even seen his cap yet) and found Confucius when he dropped my capital leaving me with just Karakorum. I managed to hold that and brought my GE and GH to it. GE and sold a galley to get to 100 gold. I got legions and killed some impis to free up my trees. I sent my legions off in a boat...maybe I have some kind of outside shot? No. EB GA flips Karakorum. I had no way to retake a capital and he'd picked off the other AI, so dominion victory for him.
America: I got a GE, so it was a little slower at first, but then I got a gallop-in on London for Monarchy. I also took Delhi and then found Confucius for a GS and a GB - so I'd have knights out in probably 2500 BC backed by the Samurai Castle. We called it to finish the series.
China: I settled in place because it seemed like either direction could dead-end quickly. EB walked a long time and eventually took Paris. I got the other AI, Mongols and Americans, including a decent barb town. This was one of those maps where most of the friendlies give techs, so I got Math from one. I also got Angkor Wat and went into Fundamentalism. I teched up to Navigation, because I didn't know where EB was. Found him and took his Beijing in 1000 BC. Paris fell two turns after. I believe that was P2M2's strategy with China.
Yeah, not much to say Thrasher I got a break on the first game with your island start. From there however, it was a newcomer getting put in his place. Always a pleasure to play you though its usually very helpful for me to see where I go wrong a lot of the time. Hopefully I can give you some great games soon enough.
I received a challenge from Scottie today.
Zulu vs. Zulu - This was a low gold map and I had a much better start. I'm not sure if either of us reached 100 gold, but I took Rome for CoL and had a galley near the Ark. I also got free Bronze and Iron Working from huts. Scottie had basically nothing and sent an Impi army to find my capital. I had a legion army waiting for him, but never needed it as I found him first. I took the hill by his cap and was going to hold it until I could bring legions from Rome, but he emptied his cap trying something weird. No idea what it was (lose the game?), but I walked in next turn and that was that.
My America vs. his China - I got a GE but spawned far from the action and was blocked by a barb so I had a perfectly average start getting a little more than 100 gold and one capital (Moscow). Scottie took Delhi. Too bad for him we spawned far apart. Despite my weak tech rate of 12 beakers per turn, I was in medieval by the time he found me and had CoL and was spamming settlers by the time he could try to press me. He attacked Moscow with a couple of horse armies, but it wasn't going to work out. I had legions and my own horse army. Scottie gave up after that since I already had more than a dozen cities and could have twice as many in a couple more turns.
Zulu??? Power civ????? I guess in H2H but not FFA at all. Spain all the way! You'll face the pain against my Spain, not that funny but had to try lolstill waiting for Spain vs china/ America challenge, would prefer china obviously but not afraid of America bring it!
Arabs are way better than Zulu in H2H and FFA anyone want the Zulu against Arabs, Arabs take it 70% of the time *cough* Multiplayabeast *cough* care to test that out? Hmmmm?
Mawpawk challenged me again.
I went Zulu in the first match, which I guess I keep doing so maybe I should stop being so predictable. He was China. I saw I was at the southern end of nowhere so I moved one tile so I'd still have two trees. I should have walked north but I could only see plains. I wound up with a bad capital still not very close to anything. I found Washington north, but was too late to walk in. I tried in fact (the settled GP makes it hard to tell if there's actually anybody home) and got my army wounded, so I had to sit and heal. I sent up another army to increase my odds. So there I am with two impi armies and suddenly Washington is orange. Mawpawk took it with my guys sitting right there. Yeah, not such a great plan. I killed his horse army and got the city. I chased him home and took his 2nd city (not 100g, he had expanded from Beijing), then put guys on his trees so he just had a 2 pop city and no gold. The saddest of all possible Chinas!
I picked China for the 2nd one. No real reason. If you win Zulu vs. China or America, you've pretty much won. Anyway, my start was a bit slow again and I found myself in another interesting situation. I had a single non-vet horseman on a hill and Mawpawk's horse army thundered up. There was nowhere I could run. My only shot was to attack him off the hill when he moved closer to me (I need the hill bonus, so I couldn't go after him). Next turn he moved diagonally and somehow I was able to declare war and attack in time. I think it might have been the wine Mawpawk was swilling more than anything else, but I won the race and the battle. I followed the trail of exploration tiles back to Washington. Mawpawk had a couple of horses but couldn't build an army in time.
First time this title has been held without having to use America! For that, I'm promoting myself to emperor.

Gm2 my zulu lose to his america. I find 7c SoC and Angor Watt but we are on oppositve ends of the map and I dont even find him till hes deep in his American expansion and builds armies in one turn to crush me....
Gm 3 My China v His Zulu He finds me early but Im ready. I Take russia and he takes a cap. He ends up taking russia from me. I expand to about 10 cities and have Indy and EIC bonii. He takes 2 of my island cities then the crap happens. I lose about 5 turns due to freezes and the ai changing my gov between turns so we decided to rematch
Gm 3 pt 2... I am on a pninsulua and find one friendly. I get to the end and am blocked in on the Zulu. his impis camp my trees. I hammer a boat and get a lucky galley drop for the win.

Just defended against multi. My USA crushed his China. His USA crushed my Zulu....got to 5 tech fast with taking spain....then my China crushed his zulu....had my cap on a large peninsula choke point.....

1. game: Really messed up with America VS Zulu. Should have been mine if I used one of my 7 brain cells.
2. China mirror. Took all 5 caps with ca gl and Knights gl...Bingo
3. Zulu VS Deni3d America. As usual wit Zulu for me, miles away from AI and Deni3d. He took out all 3 AI, but forgot to tech? I took a bit lucky out one of his cities and got Demo(he got it early from Greece). I found 7c and buildt a couple of libraries and stayed in demo the rest of the game. Game over when I gs'd Combustion. He was at 14 tech at that time.

Bull crap! Next time tell me if you can't play for a long time so I don't play you. I walked in on Greece at 3200. The other AI's you forgot to mention I took out after 500 B.C. The city you took from me was my 100 g city. Everything went wrong for me this game. I get walk in on Greeks for Demo. Everything looks good. I tech HBR and build a HA late, I wasn't near water with Washington. He gets 7cog and KT. He attacks my 100g city 6-6 wins gets march attacks again 6-6 gets infiltration. Next turn he attacks 8-6 and takes it. I waste over 90g building pikeman just to lose every even battle. I take India very late because I got injured every time I attack, including the 2.5-15 a few times. I get an Artist for my second GP which I was going to use to convert his Barracks city with a ton of production saved up... I try to take back my 100g city 18-18 and lose naturally so I have to flip that instead of his barracks city. He got Monarchy, GS'd invention and had cruisers before I could come at him with knights all because I lost my 100g city dang! GG but please tell me next time if you are seriously going on vacation so I don't play you...

Well Im king again. I beat prey 3-0 yesterday. My zulu came out fast and crushed his america chinese with galleons and CA's. I thin did my america thing, also flipped greece after he took it sealing the deal. Gm3 was my china vs his zulu, slow start but I held out and took the chinese advantage for the win
im the new and proud king of the top tier, grizz made it a best out of 5 i think 3-1 my favour, the last game was my china vs grizzs america, i landed the KT and 7cog b4 the year 3000bc, hit rpublic nt long after and decided 2 go the long game as i have made the mistake of attacking with an early gold windfall before against grizz and lost big time, so played it safe
So the vicious cycle continues, seems I have to take it from you again
