Im ok with that we can make it best of three and I would put English in tier 4, and make tier 4 a choice of three.

Maw and I are playing for the championship. I am up 1-0(french v russians), but he is the current champion.
Our other games were close warrior battles. He got a little more gold as the Mongols(both Mongols), and could threaten the Aztecs for even more. He attacked and didnt take many wounds, while I saw borders and thought they were his cap, but it was a barb city. The second game I could have won, but put a unit in the wrong square, and lost to a WA because of it.
I am King again. Waiting for challenges...

we should play for this one. I see morte has already challenged but he has endless champion and top tier on the go so anyone else want to grab it? Chug E? Im sure morte or I wil play you to confirm it

well i hope its ok, me and morte battled for this 1 last night . Morte is the real deal! without question both games russia vs russia and france vs france i had ok starts but mortes expansion and aggresion again makes me feel like a noob. good job and enjoy your new title as Bottom Tier King.

Mid week varies. I will get on late a couple of nights, just not sure which, sorry.
Definitely Friday afternoon/evening (5pm - 9pm your time) and all day Saturday.
Maybe saturday will be ok.

I almost asked preyforme to play me for this last night, but didn't want to take that decision on my own. I'm under no illusion that your are not a better player than me, but the guys who do play regularly like to have 'something' to play for. If you can't play, fair enough, You're never going to lose your status as 'Legend' whether your king of these fun little tournaments or not.
Me and scottie are both on quite a lot, yet we still can't match up with you, must be even harder for others is what I'm trying to get across.
You can have it. I said I'm still working, it's hard for me to find time at the morning (you know why).

Well no, I can't just have it, but thanks. I suggest it becomes 'open' and the first pair to challenge on XBL can fight it out, whether that's me/scottie/mawpawk/forum or anyone else that wants a shot.
Yes, I fully understand that life/work must come before xbox, the end of that comment has me a little confused though - 'You' as in the general community or me personally? Anyway, not sure I do know why - Is it that you wake up next to your girlfriend?
Scottie, as above, I think it should just be open for now. If I see you on then of course i'll play you for it, but feel free to play anyone else beforehand if the chance arises.
I think it's fine to try and set up a challenge on the King threads, but don't think anyone should be held to it, If someone finds a 'king' online (XBL) they should be free to have a go providing another challenger has not started.
I know this way (for an open title at least) there is a chance 2 pairs will challenge on the same night. First to post results here gets it.
EDIT: I would also like to suggest that going forward, any title over 2 weeks old and not in mid challenge becomes open. Thoughts?

I'll explain. I have few hours to play, for example right now. The problem is that I find Scottie only in the morning (my morning), and since I work, I can't play him. That "you" was "everyone"
Just kicked off a challenge with mawpawk for this one.
EDIT: - OK, game 1 in the books. Russia vs Russia.
Local map looks quite good so I setteld in place, 3 close barbs in view. First barb gives me bronze, not great. then I meet Mawpawk's warrior, he has HBR while I'm still researching it. I keep my warrior walking and he brings his to my cap while i'm building a horse, so I have to switch and rush a warrior in there, It wins 1.5 - 1 when he attacks. Get some gold from another barb then see Mawpawk has a horse at Berlin. I manage to sell BW & HBR to the English. This allows me to buy/build the horse army and take it to Berlin.
Hang back and Mawpawk manages to take Berlin with a single horse, I see him get what looks like Infiltration upgrade then kill his horse for Berlin. He calls it.
Mawpawk - I'm in 2 minds about counting this game, If you want to start over, just say the word.

Well, It's official, I bow to the new King of the Bottom Tier - Mawpawk.
Game 2 was my French vs his Mongols, turned into a real slug fest.
I had a decent start taking Washington at 4 pop. I then step out of there and spot a single Mongolian horse, I was half thinking it's too early for him to have that plus a HA, but yeah, total brain freeze moment and I attack it, He kills my Infiltration Horse army with his. My good start doesn't look so good now.
He continues on to take some barbs before he comes back for Washington, I build an archer army cause I can't afford another HA. Fast forward a few turns, he realizes he cant get Washington and I've now got Legions. A few battles at a close barb city to Washington - I take it, he takes it back, so I sent an archer army and Legion army to Karakorum. He has a poke at my 100g city, eventually coming back with a horse army to take it. My first GP is a builder, pretty useless to me for now.
I take a barb city next to Karakorum, then his cap. Again, skirmishes here for a good while with me coming out on top, I then get another barb city off him and ride a horse into what used to be my 100g city. Another barb town to my north, send some legions over but he has an archer army, I was sitting on an artist at this point, so flipped it. I was pretty damn confident of taking the title now. Walked into another 4 pop city of his and had 2 legion armies on a hill attacking a city with a settled GL.
Mawpawk then hits back with Elite Knights and it's goodnight from me.
A really good game that swung both ways, I enjoyed it.
So 1-1 and on to the third. My Mongols vs his French this time. I wasn't confident and I screwed it up Royally. Walked a bit getting only 10g. Settle then bump into Paris. He takes Rome, I lose my warrior at his cap then he takes mine with a Warrior army.
All challengers in Pawks direction now.

Played my first game with Mawpawk. Good game. I got off to a horrendus start, but ended up pulling out the victory due to some good moves on my part and some VERY good luck.
My French vs his Russians. I move my settlers but can't find anything, already falling behind. Kick out some warriors and Pawk takes Thebes before I can do anything. I see the Aztecs and form up a Vet WA and head their way, figuring it is my only chance. I attack and I am suprisingly outnumbered and starting to get smoked, so I retreat. About this time, Berlin falls to Pawk. I figure it is over, but the Aztecs form a bottleneck between us so I keep playing. I keep war on with them, hoping they will build up some defenses to stop him from getting 3 AI cities. I rush a library (which I rearly do) in my settler city with double fish, hoping to get a jump on tech to irrigation and COL to play catch up.
When his HA approaches, I use my WA with March to attack 4.5-4.5 and win. It was game over if I did not. I start to settler and have 0 defensive units because he can't really get to me, except by boat. I rush for Nav, but he gets it a couple of turns before I could. His free Galleon pops right next to my only Galley which is heading for 2 wonders that some huts showed me. He attacks and loses somehow, delaying him greatly in hitting me.
By the time he does hit me, I had just got a culture GP and flip the city back. I then get KT with my Galley and get a Tank. I rush a Galleon and take it to the middle of his empire. I just get it unloaded the tank and he rolls up and sinks my boat. I hit a couple of his cities and he is done for.
Great game Pawk. Look forward to the next one.
yes nice comeback ,was quite a frustrating scene of events my side even though i took 2 ai caps, always wary of that GA and that pesky galley scoped my whole empire, but the initial WA vs my HA was cool, il be on 2night ggs glenn
After another great game that I pulled out somehow (he took all 3 AIs), I am happy to say we have a new King of the Bottom Tier: Me
I was up 1-0 after pulling a victory from defeat with my French vs his Russians, so I decided to go with the Mongols (who I am terrible with) - thinking he was going to use the French, which he did. My reasoning was: In the 3rd game I would have the Russians (my favorite of the lower tier) in the 3rd game vs his Mongols.
I made 2 warriors and send them out in different directions. I find a couple of huts, but they give me terrrible 2nd and 3rd cities. About this time, he takes Koyto. I start to tech HBR, and get a HA out, but it takes forever as I have no gold and my cities aren't producing quickly. Before I can do anything, he takes the Arabs and switches to Fundy. Game over for sure I think.
I see his culture outline and decide I lost and I might as well go for broke. I still don't have my hundred gold, but I use all that I have to rush a galley. Put my HA on it and head his way. I then make another warrior to form a vet army and put it on a hill between us to wait for him to come with his HA to destroy me.
I pass his first city, thinking it would be the best defended. I hit his backside city (Paris) and to my surprise, take it. It gives me Fundy, which I immediately switch to. The very next turn, his HA shows and I am able to destroy them with my WA because of Fundy. My good feeling only lasted a turn as he then takes Berlin. I still have no gold and am trying to throw together a HA to defend his coming attack, and his upgrated vet HA shows up quickly. He destorys my WA which is the only units I have. He starts to roll through my cities as I try to get the HA together to defend. I put them together just in time to beat is HA off a hill. I roll back and take the 2 cities he grabbed from me, but I know the attack wave is coming and I am not ready for it.
Here is where luck comes in.....As he is approaching me with his wave of units to surely destroy me, I get my first GP. A great builder! I turn every square to science and beeline Masonary and as he is tuen from unleashing, use him to build the Great Wall.
I settler out and leave my cities undefended. Go straight to Math and Nav. Hit him hard before he can get to ENG and attack me.
Hard luck Mawpawk, but glenneyre - wow, good job, not only have you come in and look likely to win group 6, but take a title at first shot of asking.
Nice to see new names having a go.
