Are there still any Myst type games?

FP adventure and puzzle solving, without the shoot-em-ups and frantic key punching just to keep from being killed? Myst was a quiet game of discovery, collecting clues to solve whatever mystery there was for a given edition. Not great for replay, but some of the challenges were so difficult that the game could take many afternoons and weekends to complete.

At one point, King's Quest was a very similar game until they introduced ridiculous skeletons and other nasties that you had to shoot or avoid in order to get your clues.

I'm looking for a game similar to Myst. Any ideas or suggestions?

Lightbulb Please... hear me out, my friend.

    Dear Liberal,

During one of 2K Games' recent "fire sales", I went "all in" & ran across a title that you may be interested in: Axel & Pixel.

While it may not be everyone's proverbial cup o' tea, I found that, once launching into it, I could not resist "going for the gold", so to speak. In fact, if you ever decide to play said Steam-powered Indie game, you might still recognize yours truly as having posted his most recent best effort.

Now. If you truly long for a challenge, and don't mind the occasional first-person dust-up, might I recommend two (related-to-one-another) critically acclaimed franchises that are likely to keep you spellbound for a good many days (and sleepless nights-worth) of extended gameplay:

    • Thief
    • Hitman

I shall refrain from boring you with any further details because, after all, this forum mandates a strict thirty thousand character limit per post.

I'm tellin' ya, man: They're that good. Don't even get me stahted, ovah heah (…he stated, matter-of-factly, utilizing his best Brooklyn accent… ; )

    Highest regards,
    Bamm

I've always loved Myst (as well as Riven and Exile) and it's sad that adventure games like that have all but died off. That being said, I found one recently that I absolutely fell in love with: Machinarium. While it's not exactly like the Myst games it's a really fun, clever, and beautiful adventure game, and I'd recommend it to you.

Little late on the reply sorry but Siberia and Siberia 2 were like Myst not sure if you can find them any more or not though. Loved those games also. Was looking for games like Myst also and I have played Hitman and Theif both also very good games.

Syberia and Syberia 2 are both fully available and GoG'd to run on modern systems. So are Thief, Thief 2, Hitman, Hitman 2, and The 7th Guest to name a few others.

Good Old Games is just that: if it's a classic you'll almost certainly find it there.

Also, pretty well a year to the day since you bumped this thread, Metamorphysical, so these links I gave are for "search engine hits."

headkase is right. As much as I love it whenever the topic of Myst comes up I'm going to go ahead and close this thread. It's just too old now.
