Ouch....that'd be sad, hopefully it's just temporary but i can't really tell.
I wouldn't worry about it; the site staff have been talking about redoing the site, so that's probably what's going on.
Let's just hope it's not a repeat of mafia empire.
I'm a part of the site staff, and yes, things have been changing.
I have no idea what caused this, could be a problem with the servers. :/

The thing is that I don't know. Worst case scenario is that the host dropped the site because of bandwidth (last time though, they were at least kind enough to keep everything intact for moving the site).

I am one the staff on MS and have been in contact with the site owner and coder.. can't go into details but.. hopefully it will be up again in a couple of days or so if all goes to plan (now where is that praying smiley) ... will let you know when it is.

good news is that the site was restored and was running again
for a while, but the server seems to be a bit unsteady on it's legs.

Glad to see the site is back. Muggy, let us know if the site needs any help. Mafia Scene is a very important site in the English-speaking Mafia community, especially the mod scene. It would be a shame for it to go down.

We did have a donate button via paypal on the front page a while back and it was purely voluntary.
enough of this trying to pacify ... the simple truth is Chris Kempson (Riddian) is considering closing Mafia Scene
because he doesn't have the time to maintain the site. Plus the site is more or less dead these days most of
the regular members have all gone now and only a handful or should I say finger full actually logged in.
This is really sad because it was one of the best Mafia (CoLH) and recently MII fan based sites and forums
there was.
I would like to say that we are going to keep going, but as things stand the future is looking rather bleak.

It is too bad, MS has (had?) one of the best download sections, not to mention a vast forum (with a special section dedicated to modding) and a wonderful gallery.
If it does indeed shut down, it will be sad.

is a shame, has always been a great resource for Mafia 1, takes a lot of dedication to keep a site running for so long that's devoted to a very old game.
This is truly terrible news.
Just as we were beginning to get some sort of traction with modding Mafia2 and building up interest int he game again we lose the only active dedicated Mafia modding site on the internet.
Hopefully we can save MafiaScene, let me know if you guys need any help.
BTW i am t0ny on MafiaScene.
I would really hate to lose touch with the people who were doing some very fine work with modding on Mafia II over at Mafia Scene. There was very regular and active work being done by a handful of people, and active discussion. Now I don't know where to go for updates or discussion of those mods. Also, Mafia Scene had a great Wiki for scripting in Mafia II, and after Mafia Empire was lost, finally some work was being done at Mafia Scene and a significant amount of important info was gathered there. Now all that info would be lost again.
I really hope it does come back. Without MS how am I supposed to continue to fight to keep Mafia 1 alive with the new story mod I am making!?(its about 35/40% done at the moment)

And what do you mean horrible mod? Do you mean a horrible admin? (cos if you do then you'd need not worry, I would steer well clear of the Mafia II forums and just stick to cleaning up the Mafia: TCoLH ones) or are you saying that the Mafia mod I am making is horrible?. Sorry for not understanding you properly. If you are acusing my mod of being horrible then please do look it up if Mafia Scene ever comes back

This really sucks about Mafiascene though. All the talk of game mods over here was starting to get me interested in modding my copy of Mafia. I hope whatever problems you guys are having get sorted soon.

Those of us who hung on, hung on because of the promise of Mafia II. With great hope and anticipation we awaited the sequal, many many years. Perhaps we expected to much, but what we got, killed the interest. And in me, aroused bitterness that took quite a while to swallow.yeah I know snick

It too, took me a while to swallow and get my head around the bitterness of Mafia II. These 2K bastards really destroyed it
I am still modding, when I punch out my new mod (and the many that'll no doubt follow) I will be sure to let those who still play Mafia: TCoLH know about it.
