Lightbulb Mafia 2: the good old memory of the forums

I remember when I joined it was 2009, so many people have left and gone ect. If anyone from at least 2010 is here, say you are and what you hope for in Mafia III, and your opinion of Mafia II. Mafia II looks so good, but lacks much, Anyways, I still haven't quit yet! And if anyone wants to post good old memories on the forum, feel free to do so!

    Sincerely,
    HD Dime

2007 august Debut trailer - 2010 august: waiting for a GOTY game was exciting
Playing through M2 the main story, for the first time was quite good (8/10 as a 1 weekend game), never reached M1's level though.
For the second try it became already boring. If no Costa's Free Ride mod, would never touch it again.
Costa extended M2's lifetime with 2 more months. That was it. 2010 october - r.i.p M2 stump

It didn't turn out the way we all thought it would. I've been a member since January and all I can say is listen to your fans 2K, and better luck next time. I have to say, the real good part of Mafia 2 was the Illusion 2.0 engine. They can use that to make a lot of really good, destructible environments. The way the cars handled was very good. Maybe they will do a destructible environment city based street racing game. That'd be real cool.

Mafia 1 was a great game. It set a milestone in the Gaming history. Unreached till today.
Mafia 2 technical excelent, but Story and length, was TOO short.

    2k today annouces Mafia 3.
    Technical perfect.
For 50€ you get the Install DVD, after Installing you can play the tutorial.
After completing the tutorial, you can go to the online store and buy a mission
    for 7,90€.
20 Missions are available at the start. And more are coming.
Additional you can buy unique cars for your Garage, 4,90€ each.

2k says Mafia 2 ist a success. So they will continue this buisness behavior.
    Why change ?
If I see what othe devolper can do in 2 years. I wonder what they've done,
    all these years.

    SOURCE PLEASE?

    Then ON TOPIC:

I Like MAFIA II. Even though, it doesn't bring the "euphoria" that MAFIA brings. After the story goes 50's the plot just becomes more and more fragmented and doesn't really have a rational conclusion on every mission. Still, those missions in 50's are designed nicely, but the plot isn't. Too much killing the main characters and unrealistic amount of killing (all bosses, underbosses, capos, soldiers, entire chinese gang etc.) After prison, the plot gets too much shook around from pillar to post. If you know what I mean. It loses its potential and becomes too incoherent.

This (youtube link) was the most funniest scene in M2. Makes me still laughing out loud.

Would like 2k to start on Mafia 3 now and actually ask the forum for ideas like some other game developer sites do.

    Question Longer Story Please.

I'm not sure if the mafia series can continue. These forums used to be great and lively and then died off like a zombie infection.
L.A. Noire might end interest in any mafia game past the first one.

Mafia ii was great while it lasted.I like the beginning chapters the best, after the jail chapter it goes down hill.

I also like the 40's chapters. When the story goes 50's Vito just starts kill everybody and the story doesn't make any sense. :s

The rushed gameplay and the 2 guys you could work for, have no work thats great 2k.

    story doesn't make any sense
They made dan angry,he probably cursed and left,so someone else was writing it and left us with a confusing story.

I found out that too. And I also think that Mafia 1 has better story even if I played Mafia 2 first and Mafia 1 just days ago.

Still here, i don't post a lot, about Mafia 2 i won't repeat everything i said in other posts, but im VERY dissapointed with the game, way too much stuff have been cut from the game to make more $$$$ via $%/%"?%?$?$ DLC.

Mafia 3, i don't even care if they make another, i won't buy it when it release(if ever) i won't do the same mystake i did with M2, M1 was so good....anyway, i said all i had to say about M2 in other posts, no point repeating myself.

So yes, im still here, but don't visit like i used to, and like i said, i don't post a lot.

Nice to ''see'' you still around Dime, take care.

Are we sure a M3 is even a possibility? I could be wrong but I feel we might have an extremely long wait.

2K CEO hinted at a 3rd game a while back, but tbh I don't hold out much hope it'll be more like M1 than 2, if it ends up being more sandbox than linear/movie like I'll probably not bother with it.

would still prefer 2KCz did something different/new, or H&D3

Well, some european stores listed RDR for PC around January this year, so you never know, basicly the same happened with GTA IV, but so far R* has said nothing about it.

    I wouldn't go that far

it is R*'s best game to date imo, and the only one of their games I got to 100%, but a lot of that is spent picking flowers and slaughtering cute furry animals, it does suffer from the same repetitive task syndrome as in all their games.

The story isn't bad at all but if that's all you do there isn't a lot of it, the world they created is vast and believable, it's easy to waste hours just wandering around.

my main gripes were some of the voice acting and too many missions revisiting the same locations, the world is huge but there's not much in it, the combat cover system is better but still a little clunky.

Well Dragon Age 2 gonna be awesome, im sure even more then RDR, 2K really need to check this game and make a Mafia 3 rpg. We are in 2011, so linear sh.. is outdated, we need more interactive game, game who change the way you play, imagine a Mafia game based on your action and not on linear crap with dlc sh.., man that would be a game i purchase with a smile on my face!

not every game can just be MADE into an rpg
mafia the rpg would honestly be the dumbest idea ever
they tried to make it sandbox and it was not even really a sandbox still a great game but if they do make a 3rd one and make it open and vast like RdR it would be 90x better
The one game i would love to see made is a zombie game similar to fallout 3 just based on people surviving and building little towns etc.

Damn it's been a while. But I guess the only thing that I want from Mafia III is to get that feeling that I got from Mafia I, and that is, wanting to know what happens next - since Mafia II didn't give that to me, I wish that Mafia III would.

To make Mafia 3 a success, all 2K need to do is think about customers first and profits after....Mafia 2 had lot of potential, but failed because 2K wanted more $$$$$$$$$$ via dlc, customer satisfaction WAS NOT a priority.... It sad really mafia 2 coulda been so much more, and even when 2K tried to lie, we all saw in the game the ''missions'' we wasn't able to do, on the map, and even when we defend Joe girl, we had a ''tutorial'' explaining when we can defend, attack or whatever, and later in the game, another ''tutorial''(stealin a car) to make more money, but you don't have side missions to do what these ''tutorials'' showed you, DAMN JOKE.

And after that, you come to the forum, and moderators and 2K employee try to make you believe it wasn't cut from the original product, even if even now you can still find youtube earlier trailers about the very same thing....

So Mafia 3, make it, or don't i don't give a ☺☺☺☺, trust me 2K, i won't make the same mystake i did with M2, im gonna wait a while before buying/trying the game, no ☺☺☺☺ing way i give you another $$$ and get laugh in my face.
