Warning Warning Warning !!!
Today I installed the latest Nvidia driver 266.58. When I went to play Mafia 2
I got the old "Physx SDK not initiated. Physx software will be installed" and I am
back to not playing the game again.I spent over 6 hours ☺☺☺☺ing with this problem
again and still cannot get into the game. I played it this morning, now I am stuck trying to find the site where you move one file out of Windows/Sys32 and place it in the
Steam directory. Problem is I can't remember the file name or the site where I found it
so I could play the game. I have completely dumped and then reinstalled Mafia 2,
the Nvidia drivers, and even added Physx software 10 SDK and the ☺☺☺☺ing game
still isn't playable. If I could get my hands on the developers I would strangle
each and every on of them!!!!!!
Edit:
Finally figured it out. New Nvidia driver loads Physx software version 10.xxxx. Steam and Mafia 2 are looking for a different version. So I went
into Steam/Steamapps/Common/Mafiaii/3rd....and activated the version 10.xxxx along with the DirectX software, and the game launched.
BTW: I called 2ksupport and he had absolutely no idea of what was going on. Said to call back on Monday when new techs were in and maybe
they would know what is wrong. Guess I qualify as a 2k tech, since I figured it out myself.
p.s. Great idea putting the "SDK" on the error message so we go looking for developer software to fix a normal Physx software problem. I found
SDK software version 10 and that failed to be the answer. Just need the correct Physx software [regular version] to go with the program, and
activate it in steam. Phew!!!!!!!!!
