Just tried them, and they clear up the menu sound. I will play more tomorrow with it.
Anyone else tried these out yet?
It cleared up the audio at the menus, and in game nicely. I uninstalled my previous Realtek files, and lost the motherboard audio manager. I did a restore, and I am going to try and reinstall the new drivers without uninstalling everything else.
I'll try these too.
By God! It works! My stuttering is gone! At least, I think it is. I need to play some more to make sure, but it seems that this is the solution to my popping/stuttering sound problem. Thank you!![]()
Your welcome
Mods may want to sticky post.
Seems to have fixed it for the most part. Where once the stuttering was to the point where I couldn't hear anything, now there's only a small mostly harmless stutter, with much, much less frequency.
Thanks a ton!

I've posted the updated driver information into the Useful Links and Possible Solutions Thread (unofficial) thread stuck to the top of the technical board.
Thanks for sharing.

Not just good for BioShock - these drivers fix many generic static/stuttering sounds. Using the front headphone jacks before this driver would introduce weird noise _everywhere_ for me (even bringing up/hiding the task bar would cause little pops), but these new drivers clear that up nicely.
didnt help any of my crackling and popping in Bioshock
Nope, that didn't work, still the same problem, sound corruption, dsyncing and stuttering...
The game runs full speed, its just the damn audio stopping me from playing!!![]()
Hmm... I just played through the level before the final boss (won't spoil it), where there's always a ton of mind-numbing cracking and popping.
With the new drivers, the popping is gone for the most part - but there are some sounds that get cut out when there are a lot of sounds at once - I think either the game engine, the realtek sound chip, or my processor can't handle all the sounds at once, so some of them get cut out - which, while not ideal, is much, MUCH better than having my ears blown out by constant crackling.
In another audio stuttering thread, installing the latest OpenAL drivers helped some AC97 users, might be worth a try with the realtek? They can be found here:
OpenAL Installer for Windows
OpenAL Installer for Windows
On a steam bioshock version still ONLY stereo sound with the 1.75 drivers. Realtek/vista/bioshock aren't are perfect match.
Damn, i have to buy a x-fi to enjoy this game, grrrrr...
just a warning to all you who use the SPDIF outs on your motherboard (for Home Theatre Systems). these new drivers made my computer not even recognize that there was an AV Reciever plugged in on the other end. I had to roll back to the previous drivers, which made it work perfectly.
OpenAL did not work for me, and I use AC97. Has to be soemthing else. There was one thread that was investigating shaders as the cause.
