Will there only be black slime to fight?

That seems to be a silly question, but right now 2K only showed us black goo to combat. I hope there will also be real Aliens in biped form to fight.

In all fairness, there is also modern art to fight.

They have specifically stated in early interviews they didn't want bipedal recognizable aliens in the game. Hence the blobs and modern art.

Don't remember where I saw it, but in one of the few E3 interviews, I think they hinted at more types of aliens.

However, I suspect the Oileans (I refuse to call them Blobs anymore!) will play a central role to the aliens structure and plans.

Still think they should use the content that owning the license gives them access to. Waste of money otherwise, IMO.

Oileans... I like that, and no I am not being sarcastic.

I'm starting to wonder if the Blobs are basic footsoldiers and gatherers whereas the Titan's are heavy weapons (it costs four hundred thousands pounds of elerium to fire this ring... for twelve seconds). I'm hoping that some of the original baddies show up though. The things that turned your men into zombies were, for lack of a better phrase, fantastic in the Let's Plays I've watched.

They've said they're not using any of the original aliens. It'd be nice if this silence was a sign of them re-tooling the game into something much closer to the originals, but I'm not holding my breath.

The game will be an utter failure as a shooter if there aren't any humanoids to fight.

See, I'm still taking the statement to mean no "Rosewell" type greys, which would mean no sectoids. The rest still seem like fair game, but we're obviously reading the comments differently. Shall we agree to disagree for now?

    So you're going off this?

One of the things that we wanted to move away from was the kitsch or the expected with these creatures. We didn’t want to make a game about grey aliens, because part of the impact of seeing these aliens is that they’re not bipedal things walking around. It’s something completely different. Really you want to look at them, study them and explore them.
Don't forget that it's followed by this:

We want to create a genuine mystery that players are compelled to find more about. By creating a set of enemies loaded with preconceptions, that really undermines that. So these are just two examples of enemies in the game, and we’ve got a ride range of very original, innovative enemies to fight.
... and there's also this from the PC Powerplay article:

Though all the aliens originally took inspiration from some of X-COM's classic foes, they have evolved into things more terrifying. You won't be seeing any Sectoids or Chrysalids in 2K Marin's reimagining.
    Emphasis mine.

Translation: They originally had heavily modified versions of classic X-COM aliens, but they've been perturbed into unrecognisability by the development process.

They don't want the original aliens because they seem to resent the "kitschiness" of the original games aesthetic, and they're obsessed with having something "new" to research, without realising that it'll only be "new" for the first playthrough (which, in turn, suggests they haven't given much thought to re-play value outside of what sounds like a dodgy mission-tree).

Huh, damn. I haven't read the articles in a while and I guess things fade with memory. My apologies for being wrong.

Sorry if I came off as overly 'wordswordswords"-aggressive or anything. I'm just depressed at seeing a cuckoo pop up in the nest of my favourite game series.
