Other problems aside, I had my fisrt MP game last night and thought the lack of animation really detracted from the game. Seems very lazy and can't help being very disappointed...

So yes, at least make it an option so we can choose?!

I stopped playing Civ5 due to the lack of MP animations. How are you supposed to know which direction an enemy has moved? How can I pursue something that I cannot see?! The blatent disregard of Firaxis toward the end user is damn near criminal. If this problem is not fixed WITHIN the life cycle of Civ5, I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER GAME THAT FIRAXIS HAS TOUCHED, let alone another in the Civ franchise.

Just make it an option, not a requirement. That's all we ask.

Hello everyone. It may be pointless at this point, but I still registered to express my opinion on this issue.

The lack of multiplayer animations is by far the biggest problem I have with Civ5. The only way I've ever played Civilization games enjoyably was is in cooperation with either my close friends or my family members. None of us ever enjoyed playing online with or against complete strangers, and all of us played the games mostly because of their fun empire-building factor and never because of their competitive multiplayer options, whatever they might be.

Anyway, although the 5th game in the series has obviously lost some of its earlier grandeur, I still view it as an empire-building game worth playing. Yet, perhaps after being spoiled by the wonderfully detailed animations of Anno 1404, the lack of multiplayer animations turned to be a huge issue for me and my loved ones. Right now, I simply can't justify spending another 60 dollars for two additional copies for my daughter and wife. You might not deem this kind of petty cash and our continued loyalty to the franchise important, but that's the only kind of leverage I have over this. Please consider adding support for all single player components in multiplayer games via toggleable menu options. Thank you.

Hotseat does, thankfully, further exacerbating the lack of animations in LAN/Internet mp

Hotseat has everything that's missing from MP, viz. animations, notifications, AI diplomacy and interaction with human players, etc. etc. Probably because Hotseat was built from the SP engine and not the ☺☺☺☺ty MP engine.

I really cannot play multiplayer with the lack of animations and without diplomacy. Seriously, I don't care how lame that sounds, but it's like playing a board game. Might as well just make multiplayer only playable through the strategic menu :/

Honestly I'd settle for being able to make it past 200 turns without a 1 to 2 minute wait between turns as well as 5-10 second lag for each unit movement / research and production choices

My brother and I were both massively disappointed by the lack of combat animations in multiplayer as well. It makes the game more dull an static and is perceived as just being downright lazy. No leader diplomacy animations is pretty lame too. It seems like multiplayer in Civ V was an afterthought.

    And no mods??

The game supports modding? However I have no idea is it possible to enable the animations via modding. In my opinion this should be native part of the game itself.

I don't see any way to use mods outside of single player.

Look it's been almost a year and they haven't touched multiplayer. Nothing, zero fixes, no acknowledgement of the problems.
They should just completely remove the multiplayer forum and remove the mp-mode from the game; like they did on the Apple app store.

There is no point having false hopes. They messed it up and obviously aren't in a hurry to fix it.
Animations, the ability to save games, etc, etc, what the hell are you expecting? A game that doesn't crash and plays well online?

Only just brought the game after years of playing Civ IV multiplayer with friends. None of us ever felt the need to turn off animations in that game so can't believe there isn't even an option to turn them back on in Civ V. Really wish I'd checked out the forums before buying but I don't think I could of ever anticipated 2K or Firaxis doing something as stupid as this.

How about having animation and being able to tweak the animation speed for multiplayer. 150% or 200% would be a good value for multiplayer.

Lets just try to get animations implimented first. They can tweak them later.
