    When I capture wonders, when do they work for me?

    I was wondering about capturing cities with wonders.

    I captured a city, for example, with the Kremlin and the Louvre.

    Obviously I didn't get the extra great artists for the Louvre. But I can't tell by mousing over walls/castles etc if I am getting the defensive bonus for the Kremlin.

    You should be able to look. Examine things like how much culture is generated on a per city basis. It will show how much is gained via buildings and how much is a bonus. You can then determine if your wonders are working.

    I've not had any issue with wonders obtained from cities working as intended.

    I suspect that this is not working properly... that if you capture wonders, you don't get the bonuses. Happy to be proved wrong.

    As I posted in my thread concerning the Great Wall from the Iroquois, after capturing the wonder, the wonder penalty definitely did not stop effecting my army.

    Since I made peace with the Iroquois, the Japanese declared war on me, - it's hard to tell if the wonder is now working for me because most of the fighting is taking place along the border region, so the Japanese units only move a maximum of one hex into my territory anyway.

    Pre patch, I read reports of bugs when capturing wonders. Post patch I've experienced one such bug. I'm interested to hear if people have similar experiences. The previous poster doesn't seem to understand what the Kremlin does, however. It effects defence not culture. I'd suggest you reload a game a turn or two before you captured the wonder and check what the total defence is stated for a city where you have walls or a castle built. Then load a game immediately after you took the wonder and compare the result. If the defence has gone up, and gone up by a factor of 50 percent of the defence bonus supplied by the buildings, then the wonder is working. The defence rating of a city is listed on the main map next to the city title. Let me know what you find.

    Sorry, but on this topic you are the one who has to prove that something's not working. I routinely target the city that builds the Great Lighthouse if its nearby, just so that I can get the movement bonus. It's never failed to be applied for me. In my most recent game, I grabbed the city that build Stonehenge early and was able to see the culture bonus from it being applied. It's clear that at the very least, some of the wonders convey their bonuses after capture. If you can prove that one of them doesn't, then it should be reported as a bug.

    this. I've happily snagged wonders away from the AI before and have them work.

    There are bugs of course, like taking the Great Lighthouse and getting the promotion from it on all naval vessels. Then losing the Great Lighthouse but keeping the promotions. (the issue is with the promotion system there)

    The Great Wall territory coverage doesn't update unless you save/reload, and it's questionable about what it is actually supposed to do. Not to mention that there are early wonders that stop working once you hit certain techs. But most of that isn't written down in the game. (the Colossus was the only one written down, but I saw another one mentioned in the recent patch - maybe the XML changes)
