Also, I'm not sure if it isn't just a very common configuration but there seems to be a certain similarity in many of these reported problems:
AMD dual core processors
Nvidia 7 series cards...
AMD 64 X2 4200+ socket AM2
Asus motherboard with SOUNDMAX onboard sound (I'm betting this is the problem/bottleneck)
