Virus in BioShock.exe, can't reinstall, or System Restore

Hello,

I woke up this morning, and turned on the PC. When I try and run BioShock.exe, my AVG pops up and says it's infected, so I uninstall it, then reinstall it. It reinstalls fine, until it comes to the point where I have to patch. When the patch finishes, my AVG pops up with that infected .exe, and the patch says it had an invalid signature, and trys again. This keeps happening...anyone have a clue on what I should do?

I tried System Restoring, 4 times, but everytime I do, it says "System Restore Incomplete - No changes have been made."

Well, the legit bioshock .exe surely carries no virus. So either you have a particulary nasty virus already on your machine that keeps infecting it, or AVG reports the thing erroneously as a virus. I believe there have been other reports about AVG reporting bioshock, or its securom protection as virii.

This is an error (who's is up for debate, as always) and you can ignore it.

I see. I still can't get past the patch updating process though.

I emailed tech support. Hopefully they can help me out.

Same thing has happened to me, I was playing it this afternoon. Went back to play afte rI had some food and got an AVG virus message and that the Bioshock.exe is no longer working. Turned off AVG still no joy. Went to the DVD see if there was a fix install option and it uninstalls the ☺☺☺☺ing thing with no way of stopping it.
So now I am reinstalling it, and using my last activation through no fault of my own. Seriously, this is diabolical, absolutely disgusting, I shall never buy a 2k game again, no matter how great the reviews.

AVG also said my bioshock.exe is infected so I decided to "heal" it and now I have no bioshock.exe =( So i'm reinstalling it...I hope it works >_< I'm also gonna ignore any AVG pop-ups when it comes to bioshock.

Disable AVG while installing, and put Bioshock.exe on your anti-virus's ignore list.

Yes, it did the same for me. I wish I did some research before I removed it. >_<

Interesting. I also find this really annoying.

Disable the virus software then, you plonkers! Unless you're running a downloaded version of Bioshock, you've got nothing to worry about.

Are 2k going to reimburse me if some evil hacker infects my PC while all this is going on?
