April 2010 Gamepro article
Hey guys, I just bought this month's GamePro and have poured through the neat little two page article on Spec Ops. It seems very much to be orientated on the story and morality (a 2k specialty, maybe?). I think the takeaway comment from it is this:
"For me, strong narratives are the direction of the future for the shooter genre." I'm very excited ![]() |

I also saw a preview of one page in PTOM in the God of War 3 review issue, which they confirm that there's no story co-op but there's a separate co-op mode.
Aside from that, nothing new. But thanks for the info. |

No new tech details, actually. Just some background into the story development and where they drew their inspiration. The dev studio is located in what was East Germany, and the reporter said that some of the buildings still have bullet holes in them from WWII. The devs themselves took the still present reminders of that war, mixed it up with Joseph Conrad's "Heart of Darkness" and tried to do what Apocalypse Now did with that subject matter in a modern/ slightly futuristic setting rather than the Vietnam war. It seems interesting, especially the relationship to the guy you've been sent in to find, Colonel Konrad.
I'm probably not the best person to ask if there was any tech details in it; I tend to just gloss over them and search for story. |
