Dear 2K why are you throwing away MP

At first I did not like MP, on PC.
I had the crazy lag problem that has plagued it.
Then I learned of then used the "alt-tab" trick.
It worked, no more lag and I came to really enjoy MP.
It not the best MP FPS but it was really fun.

With that said I tried to play tonight and had a harder time finding a game. Over about 2 hours I got in 6 games (2 crashed). Earlier in the week I had games rockin all the time at all hours.

Now it just may be a slow weekend night but this does remind me of a problem I thought about when I first played MP.

That is with all the problems MP has (lag, freezing, crashing, hell even mismatched games, 40s and 30s on 1s and 5s) it has allot of potential to loose new players.

Example. New player tries it out (on PC) ... lag ... lag ... lag... (a very complained about problem) maybe they never play it again and go to a game that works. They don't stick around long enough to learn the "alt-tab" trick.

New player tries it, on xbox. No lag. But the game freezes (a common very complained about problem) for like the first 3 games they play. Not likely, but its not impossible. They don't wait for an eventual fix and go to a game that works.

It seems to me and granted I'm just a nobody, that you need nip this in the bud fast or your gonna turn away allot of potential players. And for players that stick around they are gonna get fed up OR when the next game comes out just go to that. That is just my opinion but Id bet the lot that it is exactly what is going to happen.

So 2K. Why are you throwing MP away? Was it just a gimmick? Or was MP a serious attempt? Right now I cannot tell.

It's really difficult to hit other players warping around. I myself don't warp, but I see alot of others do which really screws it up for me and makes it not fun. It's like my skill is being trumped by lag all the time. Players bashing me at melee range when I CLEARLY hit them with my nail gun 100,000 times. Grenade launcher and spam weapons are the only effective guns. If something is NOT done soon like in the next month, MP will be DEAD, just you watch and see. And I think this is some sort of MP beta testing until the real thing, it's gotta be. No way would they deliberatley copy infinity ward and do the same crappy thing they did.

i play on the 360 and ive gotten hit with both lag and the freezing exactly 3 times but the freezing has mostly stopped. i too enjoy the multiplayer but the lag is annoying as hell and should be fixed.

I loooooove mp. I've never put more than 5 hours into any mp game before, and I'm way past that with Bioshock 2 I'm happy to say.

I love it. There's heaps of different strategies and weapon/plasmid combinations that are awesome.

Had 3 freezes only and no lag AT ALL in the last week while playing on my 360.

Well done on the mp guys. I'll be playing for a loooong time.

Yes I also love the MP, but it is disappointing to have a game launch like this so I understand where ppl are coming from. It's not like this is the first time its happened tho, and I'm just doing the same I've always done - quit playing til a patch comes and everythings smoothed over. It will happen eventually, ppl just need to be patient. But I cant wait to get back into it

I both love and hate the MP. I hate it for the reasons people have already stated, mostly the lag. And I'm also not usually a big online FPS player.

son, if u have a problem with lag on any multiplayer game, then try buying VALVe games, such as Counter-Strike Source, where you can use a SERVER BROWSER to find servers that are close to your home region so you have no lag.

Only thing needed to be fixes is FPS cap to 41.

We need an uncap or cap to 60.

The matchmaking is quite good imo.
