I mean with most of its denizens dead or insane (and mutated!) who/what has been keeping the place maintained so the whole place does not get flooded and then subsequently killing the entire population.

I think rapture keeps itself from falling apart with bulkheads and such.

Yeah that sounds logical... but this is 10 years after the first one, do you think they would hold for that long?

There's also supposed to be sane, unspliced characters in Rapture that we'll see in Bioshock 2 that are most likely attached to Rapture in some way, or don't feel like they'll be able to ever go back to the surface, so they must help keep the city running in some way.

well, once one breaks, the next one shuts constantly making rapture smaller... Also I think there are big daddies to repair things

It's also *possible* that the bottles that are washing up on the beaches means that Lutwidge, or whoever is running the shots down there is trying to bring in new blood.

Rapture is also a very strong city. Ryan wouldn't have made it so it would be entirely wiped out after ten years. There may be leaks and whatnot, but otherwise it will stay up for a while.

There are also Big Daddies who repair any leaks/damages/etc. And assuming the City's A.I. is still functional, any place that collapses and starts flooding will be sealed off with bulkheads.
I'm also pretty sure that most of the splicers aren't insane enough (yet) to punch holes in Rapture just for the fun of it. They still have one thing in mind: survival. So destroying the city is one of the last things on their mind. I guess the only thing we can question is the foundation of Rapture. |
