Lightbulb Troubleshooting Tips - PLEASE READ

In hopes of solving some of the issues that you guys are experiencing, listed below are several troubleshooting tips and links that will hopefully solve some problems. This is a work in progress, so don't expect all the answers immediately.

XBOX360
*Game Freeze
Clearing the systems cache has helped in some cases to solve the freezing issues. This will erase the game updates for ALL games however, so make sure you want to do this. You'll be able to redownload the updates. To do this:
* Go to the Xbox Dashboard, select the System Blade, and select Memory.
* Highlight the HD symbol and press Y.
* Press X, X, Left Bumper, Right Bumper, X, X.

PS3
*Multiplayer Connection Issues
Many routers have firewalls, and to connect reliably with Gamespy certain ports must be open. There are two solutions for this(one may work better than the other), port-forwarding and DMZ. DMZ puts the PS3 beyond the firewall whereas port-forwarding only opens up certain ports.

For both cases, a static-IP must be set for the PS3. This can be done as follows:
Quote:
* Firstly, you will need to assign your PS3 a static internal IP address. Normally whenever a device connects to your router it will be assigned a different internal IP address. These are normally 192.168.1.2, 192.168.1.3, 192.168.1.4 and so on. Assigning a static one will ensure that your PS3 will get the same one every time it connects.
* Go to the "Settings > Network Settings > Internet Connection Settings" option on the PS3 XMB. Choose whether you are using wireless or wired.
* Both selections should show a page called "Address Settings". Here you will need to select "Custom". Another page will then display entitled "IP Address Setting". The option "Manual" will need to be selected.
* This will display a page where customizable IP Addresses are available to be entered.
* IP Address - This will need to have the Static IP address in it. Use 192.168.1.80, simply because it is unlikely that 80 other devices will be connected at the same time.
* Subnet Mask - always set to 255.255.255.0
* Default Router - Is the internal IP Address of your router.
1. To get the exact ip of your router you should go to(on your computer)
2. Start
3. Run
4. cmd [Hit Enter]
5. Type in ipconfig and hit enter, this should come up with all the ip addresses to do with your computer and the network. The address you will need to enter in this option is listed as "Default Gateway".

* Primary DNS - Same IP Address as "Default Router"
* Secondary DNS - Same IP Address as "Default Router"
* Proxy - When you get to the proxy screen, select "Do not use Proxy"
* MTU - Automatic
* UPnP - Enabled

Port-Forwarding
Gamespy has listed the ports that Gamespy Arcade needs to have open in order to work properly. There should be a spot to input TCP or UDP, but I recommend doing both for each port:
*80
*6500
*6501
*27900(UDP)
*27901(UDP)
*28900(TCP)
*29900(TCP)
*29901(TCP)

Forwarding ports is pretty router specific. Luckily portforward.com has done a great job in consolidating all that info.

DMZ
Using your computer, access your router by inputting the gateway address into your web browser. This depends on your router, but the common ones are:
192.168.0.1 (D-link)
192.168.1.1 (Linksys)
192.168.2.1 (Belkin)

Find where DMZ is mentioned and input the PS3s static-IP address.

You will also need to ensure that your PS3 is NAT1 or NAT2, but not NAT3. Refer to here for more details. After either Port-Forwarding or DMZ make sure yo turn off your PS3 and router for a minute and then turn them back on. Hopefully this will solve multiplayer connection issues.

Please PM me or Elizabeth if you have a troubleshooting tip that works.
Thanks and I hope this helps!
