looking for games then evaluating
I saw a lot of threads about this already but its sort of different for me.
Im in the US with the demo version but every time when i go to multiplayer and player match since its the only one i can do. it says "Looking for Games" for like 5 seconds then switches to "Evaluating Games" for like 5 or 10 minutes!... if i dont get into a game it just says "Failed to host a game. check your network connection" but it also says the same thing to my friend who tries and lives in the same state as me. i've gotten into a couple of games but if online takes that much time EVERY single time i try then that'll be a huge let down on the online feature. The game overall is AMAZING but this problem should be handled out or something because it takes a very long time to start the game. Does anyone know when or what they are going to do to fix this? This is by far the most pressing issue on the ps3 version of civrev atm. Ive had the game since launch and i have only been able to join a couple of games. Can we get some official response on this issue, just so i can rest assure that its being delt with asap ? thanks in advance.

if you are on the PS3, it is either because GameSpy is a horrible host, or because for some reason, your router settings won't cooperate with GameSpy.
I would hope that it is the latter, because then you can do something about it.(by changing your router settings in some mystical way...I dunno, I was never able to get my PC to work on GameSpy) |

Well if gamespy is the root of the problem, shouldnt we be expecting a patch asap and some kind of official statement on the matter ? on my end i have tried disabling all security and also running my router in dmz mode and even tried port forwarding (even though i have nat and upnp support in the router)- but to no avail... im no networking expert, but i can usually manage without outside support ..... well, i dunno .......
Retro21> thanks, i think i saw your name on my list but ill have to check when i get on again. If i cant find you ill send you another invite - now we just need civrev to start working properly right ... ![]() |

Just press the triangle button and push the "reply to request to add as a friend' or something like that,I can't remember the exact text and then the PS3 will aks you "Do you wish to add kromix as a friend" or something like that again ![]() |

I have the demo and have seen the "failed to host" message before. What I did was turn off my xbox go over to my computer and unplug my router and modem, after they are unplugged I unplug each of the ethernet cables and plug everything back in. When I go back to my 360 it works fine. BAsically what this does is reset your internet and router so it works more efficiantly.

Well, i have reached a point where i simply dont play civ rev until the matter is adressed. I will be following the forums to keep up to date, and i hope they get it sorted soon. Until then i have fallen back unto civ4 multiplayer, which still is fun... Multiplayer works better there, though its far from flawless - that is btw also hosted by gamespy. Well, cya ingame.

It's possible to play online on ps3.
I don't remember the correct name of the options but what you have to do is create a new game, if you simply search for a game you get the error that you can't host. Try to create a new game and people will join you |

I live in Turkey and I have the exact same situation. It really is very annoying. Can we have an explanation to this situation from programmers? Thanx in advance. |
