Loophole and strategy discussion (before game's release)
I still have some questions to answer and for the sake of the people who actually plan on taking this game competitively I have a few questions I need answered if someone who knows would care to answer.
1) Does England start with monarchy or just the monarchy Government? 2) If you are playing in a game against England who starts with monarchy does the pyramids not work in that game? 3) The first to discover monarchy gets a free person, does England start with a great person because of this? 4) Same goes for China and the spy. 5) What determines where the free buildings go when you discover a tec? 6) Same goes for the leaders who start with religion tec etc... Thanks for your answers Last edited by 2K Elizabeth : 06-07-2008 at 11:05 AM. Reason: i'm editing out his snide stuff. i don't want to ban him if possible. |

I will hand it to you, you've got a good eye for loopholes and gambits and whatnot. Nice work, I'm interested to see the answers to your questions.

nice questions, but I don't like the comment against myself...I was simply responding in kind to what had been said to me previously(but much less rudeness).
Rome starts with the Republic government, but not the tech, so I'd assume the same goes with England(and Greece)...actually, I know for a fact it goes for Greece with Democracy as well, because when I researched Democracy, I was told I was the first to research it and got a bonus for it. |

Good questions, especially the starting with monarchy and negating the pyramids....my best guess is that the pyramids will work until someone researches monarchy. Which leads to the question, does it count as research if someone gains monarchy through diplomacy.
(I approve of the new title and hope that everyone can follow it including MGT....please dont get this thread closed by being emotional/rude/off topic/immature, thank you in advance.) |

In case we dont get an official reply, I can tell you of my experiences and you can try out for yourself if you feel that its correct. Bonus buildings for me have been built in the cities where the potential outcome of the production (now I mean all resources, not just hammers) of that building is the highest. It can also be what you are currently producing that matters, I dont know because I utilize the resources I have to the utmost. This would be rather bad though, since you might be doing some other things in that instant. Anyway my workshop is always built in a city with hills. I will try it out today.

I have 4 more questions hor anyone who knows the answers to them.
1) With railroad you get an ironmine, how much production does it increase fro mountain squares. 2) How much does production increase with factories. 3) How much culture do courthouses produce with democracy. 4) How does the great library work exsactly? Keep the below in mind because it will prove to be a topic that will be greatly discussed onces people actually understand the game. 1-2 pop 2-3 pop 3-4 pop 4-5 pop 5-6 pop 6-7 Pop 7-8 Pop.. 10 food 20 food 30 food 40 food 50 food 60 food 70 food.. Any Civ 5 10 15 20 25 30 35 Japan 5 7 8 8 8 9 9 In 54 turns = Rome = 5 population in 119 turns = 7 population Japan = 8 population In 119 turns = 15 population Growing using only 1 grass which gives 2 food and ocean squares. This is very scary stats if you are paying attention, for cities on a 2 island square with 1 food or cities with no food, japan is going to completely dominate. But what you don't realize is that with 10 cities doing city factories you can beat this, but that is just using a republic strategy. Like I have been saying, all the other civs are going to be screwed in terms of tec compared to Japan and Rome. Aqueducts ultimatly wont help this at all, becuase japan will be even further on the population side for 1 city......... But what isn't shown here is the transition point, once you hit around 20 population with japan, Rome exponentially catches back up and Rome has the ability to reach a size 45 city before japan can reach a size 36 - 37 city, but the annoyance of population transfers and such will become flat out frustrating. |

3 more questions
1) Which tecs are in each era 1) Ancient gdfgfdgd dfgdgfdg dfgdgfdg dfgdgfdg 2) Medival dsfdsfdsf sdfdsfsdf sfdsfssdf etc 2) How many tecs do you need to research in each era in order to move on to that era. Your answers to both of these will greatly reduce the time it will take to start building upon these strategies, thanks alot. 3) How much cheaper is it to generate a great person for rome when it reaches the bonus era? ![]() Last edited by MrgameTheory : 06-07-2008 at 07:24 AM. |

This should help
![]() http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e1...ctreepart1.jpg http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e1...GTTecTree2.jpg If someone wants to change the above to put them so they are side by side that is perfectly fine. The nonsense going on in the other thread woulda taken 15 years to complete at that rate so I figured I would just post my tec map for all to use. ![]() |
